Best budgeting app so far
I have tried a ton of different apps for budgeting but they all got stressful and confusing to keep up with at some point. YNAB however has been pretty easy to navigate. I’ll be 1 year in pretty soon too

I don’t know exactly what happened in this latest update, but approving transactions is very frustrating. Catagories, payees, just not appearing the way they did before the update. I’m sure I’m not being very clear, but something significant changed.
I read You Need a Budget about a year ago and then spent time trying to create my own budget because I felt like I could do it myself and save money! After lots of time and frustration I realized it was more cost effective to pay someone to help me. 😅 it is definitely worth it for the help and peace of mind it brings for me! I have been loving it and how it helps me give all my money a job. I can look at how we spend as data to adjust as needed and love that it syncs to our accounts. Such a wonderful app, thank you!!
Do not like the account views on mobile. Too busy with “uncleared” rather than the “c” icon. Also do not like the shaded memos. Every update creates a busier look with more taps.
Not pleased with the recent change to how cleared/uncleared transactions are displayed. The new design adds lots of unnecessary space and takes up much more room. Also, seeing notes for each transaction is not important to me in the list view. It should be an option to enable/disable something like this. All these changes to “make it easier for new YNABers to get started” is sometimes making it worse for users. Having a slight on ramp to understand the YNAB system is not something that needs to be decimated. Encourage learning rather than eliminating longstanding systems in the name of simplification.
Great for kid’s balancing there money
The app leads me from social media requesting login info and send me to the App Store to download the app I filled out the required information to start and then it sends me to a sign on, then when I enter the log on it tells me that someone with my email has already used my email… duh ! It’s me , I just entered the information but now I am not recognized!!!
YNAB is a great way to track your money if you want to actively track it (not passively/automatically) and if you never carry unsecured debt. It handles mortgages fine but it’s simply not built for people who sometimes float large purchases on credit cards as I sometimes do. The old desktop version was superior to the more expensive subscription service they run now. I consider it a niche product, definitely not for everybody, or even most people.
I don’t recommend this app for anyone that is trying to budget and or track their expenses. The app is very confusing and convoluted. Please note I am an accounting major, so finances budgeting those type things are not complex to me. This app just made it way more complicated than it should to understand how my expenses were for the previous month.
Genuinely one of the most impactful apps you could ever use
