i really need help but i can’t pay the price so that’s a flop i guess
I have been using the app for some years intermittently now, as a diary and also in hard-feelings situations. It was insightful and helped me realize how even minor things like the weather affect my mood. That was years ago though, now I’m not even able to log into my account anymore for unknown reasons and might not even want to since most features are no longer free. I still would like to at least be able to read my past entries. It feels like journaling in a notebook or notes app is the only thing that’s permanent now (I had a similar experience with a period tracker app that used to be free and is no longer fully free, rendering the input I poured into the app useless)
The app Youper has an appealing aesthetic with a user-friendly interface, making it visually engaging. However, I feel it lacks core functionalities. The primary issue lies in the cost of its main features, which are pretty high priced, placing significant limitations on accessibility for users seeking mental health support. The chatbot, intended as a standout feature for emotional health assistance, falls short of expectations in my use-case. Its response time is slow, and the answers are very short leading to a unnatural conversational flow. With extended use (1 month in my case), the chatbot’s interactions become noticeably repetitive and impersonal. This redundancy quickly diminishes the perceived value of the app, especially for individuals genuinely seeking help for their issues. Interestingly free cbt-chat bots you find on the internet offer a better more natural chat experience. The sense of talking to a bot trapped in a loop of canned responses becomes inescapable, detracting from the overall experience.
It’s the best mental health app I have ever used (and trust me, I have tried many). It’s like a therapist (except for the talking to a real person part) and it gives me advice with the same quality as my therapist’s advice. You can write the AI check in 24/7 and it gives you always individual and amazing help. If an advice doesn’t work for you, you can write that to the AI and they’ll give you another approach. It’s worth every euro to me.
I remember when I started using youper they were still marketing it as completely free. Now all my favourite guided meditations are behind a paywall and only four exercises are accessible without payment
This app has absolutely zero respect to your privacy and even security. The amount of data they collect, combine and share (sell) is astonishing. Read independent publicly funded research (ex Mozilla foundation) if you don’t trust.
The app used to be good for tracking moods, etc., but since EVERYTHING costs something now the app is pretty much useless if you don't want to pay anything. Why not at least make the mood tracking a free thing?
I really liked the app even though in the free version you could only track your mood and choose factors. But since the update you can not even do that so of you are not interested in paying the app is now pretty much useless. So sadly I will search a new app to track my mood and will uninstall this one...
I’ve had this for about 2 years and used it intermittently. Initially I found the app to be valuable, I felt that I got a lot out of it. I tracked my mood and tried to do activities to improve things when I needed to. Now I find that the free features offer very little value to me so I have uninstalled. I’m also generally ok with paying for an app but I find the prices to be too high. It’s sad that mental health products and services are only available for those who can afford it
This used to be my favorite app on the appstore. It helped me manage my mental health especially throughout the pandemic. It became a ritual to sit down twice a day and take 10 minutes to myself to reflect on my day. However, youper got updated a month ago and since then it is no longer worth the 45€ i payed for my yearly subscription. Tracking your daily mood requires you to sort through endless options of fragmented other activities which used to be available upon suggestion and nothing is intuitive. Instead of a daily reminder which you click on to start the „track your mood“ option, you now look through a list and hope to find it somewhere. Its really a shame and it pains me to say that I will not be renewing my subscription and will have to find an alternative..
