Initially released in Japan in 1993, Secret of Mana took the world by storm with its innovative real-time battle system and gorgeously rendered world. It continues to stand out among other action RPGs for its seamless gameplay that anyone from beginner to veteran can enjoy.
One of the most memorable elements of the Mana series is the Ring Command menu system. With the single press of a button, a ring-shaped menu appears on the screen, where players can use items, change weapons, and do a variety of other actions without needing to switch screens. This Ring Command menu system for which the Mana series is so well known was first introduced in Secret of Mana and has since appeared in most games in the series.
Play as Randi and his two companions, Primm and Popoi, as they adventure all around the world. At the center of our epic story is the mystical power of Mana. Battle the empire in its quest for control of Mana. Befriend the eight elementals who wield the forces of nature itself. Numerous encounters await at every turn.

The game hasn’t been updated for 4 years and it shows. The game is virtually unplayable as the app opens as a tiny screen within the iPhone screen. Looks the size of a stamp even on a iPhone 11 Pro Max. Clearly the app developer has given up or forgotten the game even exists
IOS 13 update needed
Seriously. This needs to be done devs. Don’t let it die I love this game
How?
This game just appeared on the Apple “Top Picks for you” email today (October 2019) yet it does not work on iOS13! It hasn’t been updated for over 3 years! It is a classic and deserves better. Much better.
But not working in iOS 13
The game only launches as a tiny window in iOS 13, and is now unusable on updated iOS devices. I would urge developer to fix the problem, such a game shouldn’t die from neglect! Fortunately I have an iPad that is limited to iOS 12... but it’s too late for many others.
Great game
It’s easy to play, a real blast from the past. I am addicted to it.
Classic just the way I remember it!
Hard to believe this is over 25yrs old!...wasn’t sure how the gameplay would transfer to handheld but it’s very simple to use. And so easy to switch between characters & their inventory. I hardly miss the multiplayer fun aspect of the original. Anyone who ever played it has a story to tell about SOM...when you play, you’ll know why! It’s addictive like a great book you want to finish to see what happens at the end of the epic adventure - truely addictive & fun!
Don’t bother
Unplayable due to poorly tuned AI running constantly into attacks no matter what tactics you set up and over tuned attacks by bosses which make them unkillable. Do not waste your money.
True to the original
I played and loved this game as a kid. The iOS version is a perfect adaptation. Same charm, same mechanics, wonderful tweaks to the pixel graphics of the 1990s. It has been faithfully brought back to life. If you like classic rpgs or played this on the Snes then you will love this.
Maybe I'm missing something...
I think this game is too hard. Being able to play as 3 characters is great up until the AI makes them continuously walk into enemies attacks. This makes boss levels almost impossible! Was surprised to see that this is rated as one of the best snes games...
