They’ll try to trap you & keep you from closing your account." Affirm was fine while I was an active customer, the nightmare began when I tried to close my account. They have set up so many roadblocks to prevent customers from being able to close their accounts. I last used Affirm around a year ago. After trying to unsuccessfully close my account through the app a few times, I called customer service over a month ago and the lady I spoke with said she closed my card for the account and that I would need to reach out again in 30 days to cancel my account. I reached out today to finish closing. The first person I spoke to said they couldn’t close my account and that they were going to check why. I guess I should have said thank you or something, because after two minutes of unresponsiveness to me (when no question had been asked of me and I was blindly assuming I was supposed to wait for them to reply with whatever information they discovered) they left the chat. I had to start all over with another guy. They at first said it was due to not having the correct address, then they told me my card was never actually canceled. I was forwarded to a manager who was just about as helpful as the two associates before him. And just received an email from him about how to close the card from the app. Here we go, starting the whole process over again. It’s feeling very scammy/gimmicky. I have tried for 2 months to pay more. When I go to “make a payment” and choose “OTHER AMOUNT”, no matter what amount I type in (above my regular payment) it auto fill to full payoff amount. This violates the term I signed for. I am being charged 35% interest with NO WAY TO PAY THIS DOWN SOONER. This is NOT what my loan documents state. If you try to get any support for the issues it’s even worse because not only do you receive the same answers from the assistant but you are also likely to receive an error from that as well. I resorted to using the website which then begs you to use the app to accomplish anything. It’s a constant run around just to give someone my money. Will never be using affirm for anything once this is over.
