High-quality on-device transcription. Easily convert speech to text from meetings, lectures, and more.

The transcription is powered by OpenAI's Whisper running locally on your device. Nothing leaves your device.

You can export the transcription as subtitles too. It has a word-replacement feature to let you automatically fix common mistakes.

Aiko favors accuracy over speed.

It does not do live transcription while recording.
It does not currently have speaker detection.

■ FAQ

‣ Can I edit the text in the app?

I don't plan to support any editing. Export the transcription and edit it in a proper text editor.

‣ Why is the app so large?

The app delivers the highest quality transcription on the market for 100 different languages. Rather than asking why it's so large, the real question is how is it so small.

‣ Why is the transcription so slow?

The app favors accuracy over speed. However, performance is expected to improve in the coming months.

‣ Why must I keep the iOS app open while it transcribes?

iOS apps are fundamentally restricted from operating in the background for extended periods.

‣ Can I delete some of the languages to save space?

This is unfortunately not possible. The model has all the languages stored together in a way that makes it impossible to remove just some languages.

The app uses the Whisper medium or small model on iOS depending on available memory and the large v3 model on macOS.

I bought this app for $16 due to the mostly positive reviews but this app did not meet my expectations. The bugs are definitely there. Even with a little bit of silence you get a constant repeat of the same sentence over and over again. It also does not provide a very good transcription. Most of the times, the sentences are incoherent and make no sense. This is odd due to the fact that it is using AI capabilities to interpret speech to text input. I would not recommend buying this product.

This app is really good for those of us with ADHD. I like to record stuff so I can go back and listen to it later. As someone who frequently switches between Polish and English, I'm amazed at how accurately it captures both languages, even when I mix them in the same sentence. The precision is remarkable.

The interface is refreshingly simple and intuitive, making it a breeze to use for quick transcriptions. I find it particularly useful for drafting emails on the go - I can speak my thoughts, get them transcribed, and then easily refine the text using my preferred language model.

What’s more, it is completely free. It's become one of my top 10 most-used apps, streamlining my workflow. 

Kudos to Sindre. You're doing fantastic work, and I can't wait to see how you continue to improve this already excellent product.

bruh how do 99% of transcribing apps cost money when Shazam is free? For exactly zero dollars I can locate a song from decades ago that exactly 2.5 people have heard all from 0.3 secs of a drum solo. But you want an app that copies data from one source to another? Fork up the cash. Anyways this app works perfect and it’s free. 5/5 stars bb

Bless Sindre for making this app free and (I assume) allowing us to use GPT credentials on their side. While this arrangement stands, any other transcription on (and off, honestly) Apple platforms is a waste of time.

It's great, really, snx has been very helpful in my daily note-taking processes. BUT if you take your eyes off the transcription and don't save it as soon as it is done, it will go away forever. If the phone goes to sleep, so does Aiko's memory. Use this great tool wisely!

I used it the first time to transcribe a voice memo recorded on my iPhone that was 24 minutes long. I saved it to files and opened it with this app. It took a few minutes but transcribed it almost perfectly and the recording was not the greatest quality. Super impressed. Would be worth a few dollars for sure if the developer decides to monetize this.

Thank you so much finally a tool that converts my recordings into text. I’ve been having many problems most recently trying to play the voice memos on the iPhone into the line in of my Motorola and other android phone because google voice typing was doing near perfect recognition of my voice why wouldn’t it be able to recognize my words from a recording I don’t know maybe cuz they want folks to pay a lot of money to have transcriptions. This app is phenomenal and life-changing. I use it daily for work to transcribe interviews and for personal projects to seamlessly convert audio into text. The transcriptions are outstanding, and I appreciate how it organizes paragraphs. The variety of audio input and text output options is impressive. I can't imagine how I managed without this app! It's beautifully designed, highly effective, and deserves an A+ five star rating! Plus, don't forget there's a desktop version available too.
