第５世代ipod touchを使用しています。久しぶりに立ち上げようとしましたが、起動画面の後、落ちます。

### ***** "ベストセラーの全文は何処に？IPA発音記号に自動的になりません。"
どなたか教えて下さい。。特徴の冒頭に「ベストセラーの全文」「学者による論文のあとがき」とありますが、どのようにしたらこれらにたどりつくのでしょうか？また発音記号を自動的にIPA(International Phonetic Alphabet)方式に変換とありますが、変換していません。幸い、音声で手助けしてくれますが、OALDにあるIPAとは明らかに違います。これはこの辞書アプリの説明と明らかに違います。サポートでメール（もちろん英文）を送っても音沙汰がありません。
追記 IPA記号の表し方を発見しました。語の下のAHD独自の発音記号に軽くタップするとIPAを表示します。しかしhewという単語のIPA表記は間違っています。

### ***** "語根解説が詳しく使いやすい"
アメリカ英語の上級辞書として、特に語源・語根に強い興味を持つ人に、第一にお勧めします。

iPad版は十分使いやすく出来ています。単語をブラウザなどでコピーしこのアプリを起動すると、見出し語検索欄に自動的にクリップボードの内容が表示されます。最近のアップデートで画面右下(キーボード右上)にもall clearボタンが出来て、さらに検索しやすくなりました。

発音記号は国際音声記号と異なるため、慣れていない人は戸惑うかも知れませんが、見出し語は読み上げてくれます。

語義解説中に知らない単語があれば、タップすれば、その単語のエントリーにジャンプします。画面右下の「戻る」ボタンで戻れるのは、1つ前までですが、画面左下に履歴ボタンがあるので、10個前の単語に戻るのも簡単です。

「デラックス」はシソーラスとセットになっています。アメリカンヘリテージで見出し語をタップすると、同じ見出し語で直接ロジェ・シソーラスが開くので、容易に双方にアクセスでき、語の理解が深まります。

他の辞書にあまりない特徴として、語根の解説があります。例えばopposeの語源欄に記されている語根apo-をタップすると、off, after, punyなど、同じ語根に由来する、数十の単語を見ることができます。

中辞典クラスの語源欄にある程度慣れてからの方が語根の解説に親しみやすいかもしれません。語根解説は文字が小さくサイズ調節できないところが玉に瑕です。キー配置に関しては、シソーラスにジャンプするボタンが、画面手前側にあるといいなと思います。

なお、「デラックス」のアメリカンヘリテージは、第四版ですが、シソーラスの付属していない、アメリカヘリテージ第五版が出ています。

This is one of the most useful English dictionary I've ever used. The app's layout is clean and highly usable. There are many dictionaries out there but without good design, electronic dictionaries can be less useful than paper ones. My only gripe is that, unlike Oxford Deluxe, sound files are not included and internet connection is necessary. (I needed American English dictionary.)

The software is quite buggy. Sometimes I type a word, one found in the dictionary (like "cat"), but the dictionary does not bring up the list of words contained and instead I stare at a blank screen only to have to restart the application and start again. Other times, I want to clear the word that I typed previously, but repeatedly trying to hit the small "x" in the circle in the corner of the search field does not work, so I have to go in manually and erase each individual letter one by one of the word in order to  get a blank search field. I have yet to see the application updated yet, although I bought it quite some time ago. I was expecting better from such an expensive application.

動作速度、機能共に十分で文句なしです。

自分の場合、辞書自体はNew Oxford American Dictionary とかの方が丁寧で分かりやすいので好みなのですが、
最近 American Heritage もいいかもとだんだん思ってきました。
私個人のイメージとしては、American Heritage が広辞苑で、 New Oxford American Dictionary が大辞林 って感じでしょうか？
American Heritage は簡潔だけど、ちょっと難しいんですね。その点 New Oxford American Dictionary だと分かりやすいです。

Fast and having enough functions. Recommendable.

I myself prefer New Oxford American Dictionary, since its description is detailed and much easier to understand,
but now, I became like "Oh, American Heritage is not bad!"
Simple but little bit difficult American Heritage, in the other hand, detailed and easy to understand New Oxford American Dictionary, IMHO.

Extensive entries, fast look up, and a decent if not as full featured thesaurus as Wordbook. The software is excellent, it's easy on the eyes, the only negative being the more limited Roget's II Thesaurus.

Having a good dictionary in my pocket for advanced classes and for reading some of the books I'm trying to get through is quite nice.

現在、辞書の内容自体には不満はありません。（内容的には★4つ〜5つ相当）が、この辞書を頻用するにあたり、iPhoneを回転させて横長の表示にして文字入力する事ができないアプリのため、使いにくいです。
回転表示に対応したアプリになるよう、次以降のバージョンで改良してください。
