Powered by Moog’s Anisotropic Synth Engine (ASE), Animoog Z empowers you to visually traverse new sonic universes and even create your own! ASE utilizes a novel orbit system to expand the concepts of wavetable and vector synthesis, allowing you to navigate dynamically through the X, Y, and Z axes of sound. Spontaneous sound design with Animoog Z is easy—simply select and drag the orbit path to explore endless sonic configurations.

• Timbre Editor: Go beyond simple sample playback and build unique sounds that evolve in multi-dimensional space. Select from a wide variety of built-in timbres or customize your sound by recording your own timbres (or import your own WAV files).

• ENV/LFO Page: Articulate your dynamics with 3 independent six-stage DAHDSR envelopes for Amp, Filter, and Mod, each with loop and sync functionality. Give motion to your sound with 3 independent LFOs featuring continuously variable wave shapes, phase offset, delayed start, sync, and support for 1-8 repeats.

• MOD Page: Highly flexible modulation matrix with 10 lanes and a multitude of sources, controllers, and destinations—including global destinations like Delay and Thick. Use the Solo and Enable controls to explore complex modulations layer by layer.

• Effects Page: A collection of dynamic sound-altering and sound-augmenting effects with Delay, Chorus, Bitcrush, Filter, Arpeggiator, and Looper. Oscilloscope-style views display the output and impact of your effects.

• MIDI: Use your favorite MIDI controller to control Animoog Z (with full support for MPE input) or go MIDI out to use Animoog Z's highly expressive keyboard to control your favorite instruments. Go even deeper with Animoog Z's exhaustive MIDI CC mapping system featuring MIDI Learn, multiple destinations for a single CC, and detailed control of which presets are loaded with program change.

• Additional Features: Backwards compatibility with presets and timbres from the original Animoog, AUv3 support, 440Hz base frequency offset (+/- 10Hz), preset tagging, preset sharing, Global BPM, Tap Tempo, Ableton Link, keyboard typing and shortcuts, random presets, and undo/redo.

  This Professional-Class Synth, with its technically advanced settings & control, allows for going from a single tone or waveform set in monophonic to hyper creative, mind expanding layers & pathways sittin thin, fat or sideways, coloured at all, raw, processed or organic. 
  Add in tha MOD Matrix and u can automate this here with that there giving your imagination an almost tied run for its ability to envision.
  Math books are written with a boring, dull & drawn out distortion designed and standardised to sift “smart” “stupid”.

I updated my review because finally the bug that I dealt with for three months has been squashed. Moog did a great job working with me and I appreciate them contacting me – even if it was a bit late. So, of course I’m going to change my review And the app is always spectacular. Just like the original app.  It’s definitely on my top 10 must have iOS audio apps.

So, I love this app and i've had it for a while now but once i opened the app it kinda freezes the controls, you can still play witht current sound but you cannot change or manipulate the sounds anymore. its been happening quite often.

I don’t know if this might solve the freezing issue that many have experienced lately with AnimoogZ but it has worked for me in regard to the issue and has not, for far, returned. 
I disabled Apple Intelligence & Siri from learning from the app. You can find this feature in settings, so AnimoogZ is back up to a five star rating, 
But it would be even better if there were a haptic feature to the AnimoogZ. Keyboards are also percussive instruments and that is something that is missing in Animoog. Haptics would help in providing that feeling.

Except for the keyboard, the controls no longer responds to touch. A few moments after opening the app the controls ie: ENV/LFO, MOD EFFECTS, ORBS, PITCH & MOD WHEELS cannot be used. SCALE ARP ATTACK SUSTAIN  DECAY etc cannot be accessed. This is on a 5th gen iPad Pro running iPadOS 18.2.1. 
Animoog has been a great creation and innovative in its design & growth and the developers have been generous in making it available to the public. I’ve been with them from the very beginning. I just hope this is just a glitch with the latest OS update (works fine on my iPhone 13Pro) and will be corrected in the next update.

Update:
Still waiting for an update or a fix from the developers concerning the freezing issue the has affected the function of animoog z. It’s been going on for a few months now but there hasn’t been any words regarding it. I’m sure I’m not the only customer that’s been affected.

This is the best deal. It sounds great. It functions perfectly with Logic Pro. I can have it on my iPad or Mac Studio. I can control everything via the iPad. BT MIDI, MPE, and MIDI control are fully functional. The synth engine is deep. You really need to get in there and mess around. It’s easy enough for beginners and complex enough for intermediate/advanced. From crazy textures to beautiful pads this thing can do it. The movement is like nothing else. The Orbs section makes it so easy to have what I hear in my head come to life. The way you can blend different sounds along with the movement on the grid is genius. It sounds way more expensive than it actually is.

Let me get this straight:It’s a good app with good sounds. It can be incredible for you. That being said, there is too much locked behind paywalls. Yeah, a few sounds and features are fine. Heck, I use VHS Synth. But the thing is, I think it’s silly to make someone pay for dynamic articulation. I felt like 3 stars was fair, since it has very low lows and very high highs. This is a good app, but PLEASE add free dynamic articulation.
