Es ist nicht überraschend, dass das Schloss Chillon eines der meistbesuchten Monumente der Schweiz ist. Eine atemberaubend schöne Architektur, eine einmalige Lage zwischen See und Bergen - einfach magisch!

Das Schloss Chillon zu besuchen, ist, wie eine Zeitreise zu machen. Jeder Saal enthüllt einen Teil der Schlossgeschichte - den Alltag am Hof der Savoyen ebenso so wie das Leben unter den Berner Landvögten. 

Entdecken Sie die Wandgemälde aus dem 14. Jahrhundert, die im Schlafzimmer des Herzogs und der Kapelle zu sehen sind oder die grosse Koffersammlung und die Möbel, mit denen alle Räume des Schlosses ausgestattet sind. Auch die vier grossen Prunksäle, perfekt für die üppigen Bankette früherer Zeiten, lassen Sie ins mittelalterliche Leben eintauchen. Aber vergessen wir nicht, dass Chillon auch eine Festung war! Das Schloss ist natürlich auf der einen Seite durch den See geschützt. Die Landseite ist aber mit Verteidigungstürmen und einem Wehrgang bestückt, wo zahlreiche Waffen ausgestellt sind. 

Diese tausendjährige Hochburg hat nie aufgehört, die Phantasie von Artisten wie Rousseau, Hugo, Delacroix oder Courbet zu entflammen. Unzählige Legenden sind in diesen Räumen entstanden. Die bekannteste ist diejenige von Bonivard, welche von Lord Byron bekannt gemacht wurde, als er Bonivard zum Helden seines Gedichts «Der Gefangene von Chillon» machte. Die berühmte Säule, an der Bonivard angekettet war, ist ein Muss jedes Schlossbesuches!
