## ChordLab Description
ChordLab is een specialistisch hulpmiddel en een soort rekenmachine voor moderne vierstemmige stemvoering. Iedereen heeft deze kleuren wel eens gehoord in de arrangementen van Big Bands - de blazersriffs in het kartonnen nummer van Jetsons bijvoorbeeld. Met ChordLab kunnen we op een bepaalde manier door alle mogelijke permutaties van deze akkoorden bladeren. Meer theoretische achtergrond is beschikbaar in de documentatie. Dit is geen algemene akkoord-app voor beginnende instrumentalisten. Voor de gemiddelde speler kan ChordLab echter een bron van grote inspiratie zijn en een introductie tot veel nieuwe kleurkeuzes.

Vierstemmige harmonie kan beperkend aanvoelen op instrumenten die in staat zijn tot meer dan 4 stemmen, maar voor een klein koor bijvoorbeeld is het een basisfeit van het leven. Het is een nietje geworden in moderne muziek en het stelt de begeleider in staat om het spectrum in zekere zin te ontrafelen door minder noten te spelen. Wortel- en kwintsubstituties worden automatisch toegepast bij het inbellen van een akkoord in ChordLab. Gewoon zo. Als de kwaliteit van een akkoord eenmaal is ingesteld, kan het worden bekeken en beluisterd in alle standaard en niet zo standaard drop-voicings en door zijn inversies worden verplaatst. Dit is met name van belang voor gitaristen, aangezien nogal wat stemmen onmogelijk te bespelen zijn en er wellicht weinig opties zijn. Akkoordspelling is ook het belangrijkste kenmerk van de Apple Watch-app van ChordLab.

ChordLab heeft een interactieve Circle of Fifths. Hiermee kunnen we toonsoorten opzoeken voor majeur- en mineurtoonladders, evenals alle andere modi die zijn afgeleid van de majeurtoonladder. Het is dus mogelijk om bijvoorbeeld toonsoorten voor alle mixolydische toonladders weer te geven en tegelijkertijd de andere graden voor die modus te markeren. Bovendien toont ChordLab gradenstructuren voor een sleutel in standaard Romeinse cijfers. Dit is erg handig bij het samenstellen van akkoordprogressies. Wortels van het huidige harmonische domein zijn wit gemarkeerd en kunnen worden aangetikt om de bijbehorende akkoorden te controleren.

Met de functie voor het vinden van akkoorden in ChordLab kunt u in de database zoeken naar structuren van 3 of 4 noten om hun harmonische kwaliteit te bepalen. Om een ​​akkoord in zijn database te vinden, gebruikt ChordLab de enharmonisch eenvoudigste oplossing en vereist niet dat je weet of een noot G# of een Ab wordt genoemd. Dit is vooral handig voor gitaristen die vanwege de stemming van het instrument zelden akkoorden in grondtoon tegenkomen.

Er is veel functionaliteit ingebouwd in ChordLab, maar zoals met elke tool is het wat we ervan maken. Als akkoordspelling een term in uw vocabulaire is, zou ChordLab interessant moeten zijn. Of misschien wil je je akkoordenreportoire laten groeien. Door muziektheorie onder woorden te brengen klinkt het vaak al te ingewikkeld, maar niemand zou zeggen dat oranje of paars ingewikkeld zijn. ChordLab laat je in zekere zin spelen en werken met kleuren en laat je zien hoe je ze op je instrument kunt spelen. Het is een unieke tool voor muzikanten, songwriters, professionals en muziekstudenten en een tool waar je keer op keer naar terug zult komen.
