Current Reader

A beautifully considered RSS reader offered for an incredible value. As noted in another review, I would also love to see support for emailed newsletters along the lines of what Feedbin offers. With that and the ability to watch videos from the YouTubers I follow without leaving the app and this would be the only reader I need.

I’m deliberate about the feeds I subscribe to, but my readers trigger my scrupulosity and make me feel shame for not keeping up with them. This reader is so much kinder and lets me wade through information without creating an insatiable backlog. Thank you!

The new metaphor for rss is compelling but this version is very buggy. Scrolling is unreliable, locks up and is unresponsive and will often not render items - there is just a blank space where an article should be. Scrolling will sometimes cause the item to reappear but only as it disappears at the top of the interface and is unreadable and in tappable. There are also inconsistencies between the iOS and macOS interfaces that muddle the interaction and make it more work than necessary to move between. Not clear if this is a native app Or done in electron. The latter might explain the jankiness.

Superb rethink of one of the best ways to use the web. Elegant, useful and simple to use!

I've been using this for a couple weeks (I was on the beta) and I love it. No unread badges, just dip into the current and see what floats by when you have some time. Nice clean UI. Has some nice power user features on the macOS app, too, like a keyboard-based command palette.

Regardless of what you read, how you read it has always felt like a chore. It’s something to keep up with. Current is the rare attempt at considering what it would be like to have a healthy relationship with the news. If you want to stay informed about the world, but don’t like the way other apps make you feel when you do, check this one out.

Love this take on on RSS reader. I’ve been awaiting its release since it was announced. I’ve been consciously trying to turn of my “notification zero” mindset and this fits the bill perfectly. This is version 1 so I’m excited to see what is next. I use Feedbin to get my newsletters in my RSS feed and would love reader mode support (and the ability to set it for specific feeds).

A reader that doesn’t compete for your attention and treats you like a human. I like the philosophy.

It's great to see a fresh take on what an RSS feed reader should be. I was a beta tester and I know that a lot of care went into this app.

And the dev has a real passion for it and it shows.
