## Depression Test Description
The Depression Test is a powerful tool to evaluate depression and monitor treatment response.The test questions are based on Patient Healthcare Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), the most widely used and trusted questionnaire among mental health professionals. The test can be self-administered.

With Depression Test, you can:

- take the PHQ-9 test to screen for depression
- check the severity of your depression
- store the test results and monitor improvements over time
- keep a journal to track your mood
- educate yourself with short, informative articles on Depression
- feel better by using self-guided Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify and reframe your negative thoughts 
- gain access to high quality depression resources 

The CBT exercises include A-B-C, Socratic Questions, Challenge Core Beliefs, and De-catastrophizing. The exercises will help you identify and challenge your cognitive distortions that lead to negative thoughts.

I have been feeling depressed for years and never said anything to anyone so today I took this test and I got 27 out of 27 so I decided to text my mum about it and she said ok. This app has been very helpful and made me talk to mum about it she said I will go and see doctor so I think u should go and talk to ur mum or dad and tell them u just wanna know or u will always think about it and they will listen and u will also know

Ok so I love this app so much because I can express how I feel. 
When I’m using the journal part of this app I can literally just vent and then I can check after a few days off uploading my progress.
It’s so good to keep track of your emotions and mental health well being. 
I really recommend this app for people who want to keep an eye on their moods !!!

As much as I know that this isn’t a replacement from a professional diagnosis, it will help put you in the right direction. It inspired me to reach out to my family about by mental state, then to get a professional diagnosis. So it is great to see where I may be if uncertain about going to a doctor and if you are diagnosed, to track how far you have come in overcoming it. I do think adding a password may be a good idea as there are some people who may be intrigued by the name or be thinking it is inappropriate , when really it is a private matter, so a password could be nice.

Looking at the reviews others have posted it's great that others have got help from this. I've had depression for 15 years now on and off and I'm thankfully self-aware enough to take action and nip it in the bud when it starts to resurface and looked at this app out of curiosity rather than need. For those less aware I can see this would be useful, HOWEVER for those wanting to use this to diagnose yourself please be aware that the symptoms of depression are not solely limited to depression - excessive tiredness, lack of energy and poor concentration can be caused by many things - for example: vitamin b12, omega-3 or vitamin D deficiency, low ferritin levels or impaired thyroid function; and actual depression itself is often not simply a stand-alone condition and is just as likely to be a symptom of something else such as hypothyroidism, anaemia, gluten intolerance or adrenal fatigue . If you think you have depression go to the doctor and get your bloods done as a first step as it would be pretty rubbish to be put on long-term antidepressants with all their scary side-effects and fork out for costly counselling services when there may be an underlying cause which is easily and more gently treatable with supplements, lifestyle and dietary changes.
