Drambo is your all-in-one sound laboratory that adapts to your workflow: build beats as a groovebox, design synths, or transform audio with effects, standalone or inside your favorite DAW.

At the core of Drambo is a fresh approach to modular design that makes creating with modules easy, fun, and accessible. Connections happen automatically as you add or move modules, so there are no messy cables to slow you down. The interface adapts to your workflow, generating modulation controls when you need them, and even lets modules contain other modules for perfect organization. You’re always free to override the automatic connections, but most of the time, you can just dive in, experiment, and shape sounds without getting tangled in wires.

Use a deep and innovative sequencer to compose patterns and whole tracks, for production or live performance. Go beyond simple looping sequences with parameter locking, conditional step components, parameters automation and powerful scene morphing. Drambo works equally well as a self-contained standalone app or audio unit plugin with audio and MIDI connectivity as an AUV3 instrument, audio effect and MIDI effect. 

You can use Drambo as

• A Complete Studio: Produce entire tracks and perform live in a self-contained, multitrack environment.

• An Endless modular playground, that allows you to build, modify and store custom instruments and effects. For instance: build a custom synth, sample and resample, build a Theremin using a gyroscope module, or turn your table into a playable surface, by processing microphone input with physical modelling modules. 

• An Advanced MIDI Sequencer: Control hardware or AUv3 instruments. Generate custom MIDI CC messages or send modulation signals to physical modular synths via DC-coupled interfaces.

• The Ultimate AUv3 Plugin: Load Drambo inside other DAWs as an instrument, audio effect, or MIDI processor. Replace dozens of standard plugins by building your own complex modular delays, reverbs, decimators, or modulators in seconds.

• A Unified Audio-Visual Studio (Drambo Visual IAP): Arts united. Step into another realm of modular visual synthesis to build complex generative video art, or seamlessly patch your audio and visual engines together for deeply integrated performances.

• Polyphonic, stereo processing and audio-rate modulation. All signals are equal. Up to 16 voices per modular instrument rack.

### ***** "Near perfect endless custom audio & midi creation possibilities!"
Excuse the length but I love this app and it’s hard to put the true magic into words. Basically this app can create everything from unique synth or drum sounds and hits, to full complex audio tracks and midi sequences. All via a combination of endlessly customisable and modular ‘rack mounted’ style generator and filter modules.

What’s even more amazing to me is that you can make whole custom midi triggered instruments, samplers, and even fx modules that can be saved as presets and loaded into other multitrack projects or even externally in apps like AUM or Audiobus which can be used to trigger your new synth with midi like a whole new instrument or as a full DAW all synced nicely with Ableton Link!

Start with one of the different samplers or simply an oscillating sound wave generator giving out a constant buzz or beep, and then manipulate the sound with the various filters, LFOs, and time based manipulation modules like the graphic shaper that lets you draw shapes and angles to represent what will happen over time. You can turn even the most mundane sounding drone into an awesome instrument playing anything from a full drum kit to a pounding warping bass line nicely sidechained to a kick with the compressor module.

It’s not perfect just yet (although it’s close). There are some issues the main being that the app seems to glitch out occasionally and let out a piercingly loud squealing electronic beep, usually when you reopen it with something loaded. I’ve tried saving only when the main track was muted but my speakers and ears would still get blown out occasionally and the app can be VERY loud even just loading modules. I started loading the ADSR amp module first and lowering the amps volume and release right down to avoid any loud noises or overly aggressive feedback loops but I wish there was a more efficient automatic sound protection built in.

It was confusing at first too and while there is a built in help feature, it doesn’t always go into enough detail as to what each button or section is for. It will likely come to me more at some point but I think I’d prefer some more menu options or settings detailing the process of sending audio to different ins and outs. Like maybe a right click menu showing all of the available routing options and what they will do as despite the colour coding it’s still a little confusing to know what can go where or what can do what.

I have tried multiple DAW type apps on iOS and never really felt they worked well - until Drambo. This genuinely feels like it can replace Ableton for me - it’s got a bit of a learning curve but some great tutorials online. Once you get going it’s really special. Highly recommend!
