With it, you can use an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch (5th generation and later) as a wireless remote controller for an F8/F8n/F8n Pro. In addition to the fundamental operations of starting/stopping recording/playback and searching forward/backward, this app allows the adjustment of trim levels and mixer pan and fader settings. You can also use it to monitor input levels, timecode information and remaining battery charge. Moreover, using this app, you can input characters from the iOS device to edit file names and add metadata as well as transfer date and time information for use when recording. Features ■ Create monitor mixes easily -Using the mixer screen that supports multi-touch, you can easily create monitor mixes as though using a traditional mixer. ■ Control an F8/F8n/F8n Pro that is inside a protective case -During field recording, you can check and control levels using the device in your hand without needing to look into the protective case on the F8/F8n/F8n Pro. ■ Input metadata -Using the iOS device keyboard, you can input all types of metadata. If anyone with iOS 13 or above has gotten it to work please let me know how. These complaints have been happening for years and it would be an easy fix but zoom is lazy and still won’t update for new iOS so when I use this at events I am stuck running back and forth and getting bad audio quality. Even their external Bluetooth solution for older models won’t work. So what to I need to do buy an old Apple device specifically so I can remotely control this expensive device?? -- Maxy921, 2023-03-05 ### ****- "Handy and useful supplemental control surface" A nice addition that allows you to use an iOS device to control and configure the F8 mixer series. Doesn’t have 100% of the main unit’s functions but transport control, levels, mixing, and some metadata editing are available. I’ve uninstalled and reinstall, I’ve update OS, I’ve turned my F8n on/off, restarted BT over and over again. I’ve barked at the moon, asked for a few “come on’s” and I get rain instead. Works fine on my iPhone, but an iPhone isn’t the viewing and tweaking size I NEED. Love the app and the functionality. Tho it would be nice if the fader adjustments were a little less sensitive. So adjustments on a phone can be made without making 6 dB changes at the tiny twitch of a finger. With this app, it's versatility crushes the other mixers hands down. I can use it in a car scene and be in the car behind the actors from pretty far away too! New users to the F8 will initially like it. As time goes by and you actually try to use it in a production environment you will discover its shortcomings. For example, how about the same metering options (peak and vu) that you offer on the f8. How about a track mute button? How about a track solo button? (I know, the PFL is a sort of solo button, but not the same as track level solo buttons the allow you to easily select which tracks to listen to.) How about customizable track names on the sliders? How about allowing the mic on the phone/iPad to act as a switchable room mic? Etc etc etc. I also hit a bug that shows up randomly where if I have set the trim on the iPad for (let's say) track 8, then switch screens (for example clicking the menu button) I will hear a click in track 8 and the trim on the iPad track 8 will reset to the trim level set on the physical knob on the f8.
