## FINAL FANTASY XIV Companion Description
The official FINAL FANTASY XIV Companion app helps you keep in touch with your friends and prepare for adventure, anytime, anywhere! Access your in-game friend list, chat with fellow adventurers, make and share plans using the event list, manage your items, browse the market board, and assign retainer ventures!

Please note that an active service account and subscription for FINAL FANTASY XIV are required to use this app. 
Please also note that some features such as chat can still be accessed for the first 30 days after your subscription for the main game has expired. You will lose access to all features after this period.

Chat with other players who are using the companion app; your in-game friends, Free Company and Linkshell members, and more!

Create, edit, and manage scheduled events, bringing your friends together to take on raids, trials and more!

- Item Management
Sort, move, sell, or discard your items with the tap of a button! 
*Please note that item management via the FINAL FANTASY XIV Companion app is not available while logged into the game with the associated service account.

- Market Board
Items can be purchased or listed for sale on the market board through the use of in-app currencies: Kupo Nuts or Mog Coins. Kupo Nuts can be obtained as login bonuses and Mog Coins are available as in-app purchases. Please note that access to the market board via the FINAL FANTASY XIV Companion app is not available while logged into the game with the associated service account.

I tried to sign in, with the details I had saved on my phone from logging in to The Lodestone.
Apparently they are incorrect, yet I try to log in to my account there, they are correct.
It’s absolute garbage.

Square Enix are an incredible game dev. As a whole they make amazing games and FF14 is one of them. However to charge for kupo nuts to be able to sell items is a huge miss and appalling. If they changes this the app would be actually useful. Very disappointing. Im shocked they have not addressed this

I have been playing XIV for years and it’s my favourite game, I absolutely adore it. The same can’t be said for this app however, as it’s existence serves as nothing more than accessing some extra on-person storage in game, and behind a paywall no less.

It’s purpose is very niche, I don’t know anyone who’s desperate enough to play the market board or access their inventory when they’re not logged into the game. Frankly, I’m shocked they haven’t discontinued this app and offered the extra storage through other means. 

Overall, it’s an incredibly disappointing outlier next to the MMO, and couldn’t be further from representing the usual high quality surrounding the game.

This app could have been a really useful tool to use alongside the main game. Manage your gear, send retainers on ventures etc. I would pay for that. Instead, what we have is a clunky piece of garbage that barely lets you do anything. Avoid.

Honestly even if you could use as glamour mirror for trying on different outfits/weapons etc it would be useful.

### **--- "Simple and functional but inconvenient"
FFXIV Companion is a mobile app that allows players of Final Fantasy XIV to view their in-game inventory and friends lists while they’re away from their computer or console.

It also allows players to buy and sell items using their retainers at the cost of one Kupo Nut per action (e.g. buying an item, selling an item, changing an item’s price, etc.). Players earn one Kupo Nut per day when they log into the app.

This app also has a few more features such as transferring items between your character and your retainers. However, those features unfortunately cannot be accessed unless you pay a premium rate for this app.

Personally, I don’t really see the point of paying premium for this app as it only adds to the cost of playing the game. If anything, it’s only most useful for checking your inventory and friends list while you’re away from your computer or console and nothing more. Therefore, although this app is simple to use and functional, it’s not very convenient, so I wouldn’t invest so much into it.

It is a bit weird just seeing a screenshot of my char, rather than an actual model. You have the basic functionality in the app, just hire a team to polish it up and make it useful. Maybe add some things like:

-pvp rankings
-Logs
-event calendar
-quest tracker
-glamour 
-optional item store
-achievements
-interact with companies 
-etc 

Any of these would be great additions.

Sub-par application for an incredible MMO. Very behind on innovation. If you’re using it just to keep contact with online game friends then yea it’s good. For everything else, it’s insanely pricey for what it’s worth.  A game on multiple devices is most definitely the best way to play for today’s standards and have already been adopted by Square Enix’s competitors. If you’re a hardcore crafter and want to dabble with the market while at work or on the train: prepare to pay a lot of money from your own pocket. Also they still haven’t added the feature of switching between your multiple characters! Laughable.

The service you get from FF14 as a whole is nothing short of terrible. I have raised 4 tickets and called the support team one day and was told “we’re going home in an hour so we won’t fix your problem now till next week”. This is an MMO that runs 24/7!? I couldn’t believe it. The app is horrendous aswel as I know this is a review for the app but I’d just advise you to stay clear. Lotro, WoW and Star Wars are far superior in support and just general service to their fans. I went in already disliking squarenix for the money grabbers they are but they still managed to swindle me. Unreal...

Incredible utility to access market and inventory from away from home, however it’s hard locked behind a pay wall.

One transaction to the market board by phone a day is incredibly stingy. Especially when you look at RuneScape, which has a similar app that allows you to do it all for free.

The subscription, expansion packs and additional retainers are already a lot of money to pay, let alone something as simple as the market board.
