## Garmin Jr.™ Description
When paired with a compatible Garmin kid’s wearable device, the Garmin Jr.™ app¹ is a parent’s resource for keeping track of kids’ activity² and sleep, managing chores and rewards and encouraging daily activity.

With a compatible LTE-capable device, parents can also stay connected to their kids with texts, voice messages or voice calls to and from the device. They can track their location on the map in the Garmin Jr.™ app, set boundaries and receive alerts related to those boundaries. Your kids will only be able to interact with the people you add to your family in the app.

The Parent Helper
With the Garmin Jr.™ app on their smartphone, parents can:

• Call and receive calls from your child’s compatible Garmin device.* 
• Send text and voice messages to your child’s compatible device.*
• Track your child’s location on the map.*
• Get detailed statistics about your child’s activity and sleep.
• Celebrate personal records, including steps and active minutes.
• Assign tasks and chores and reward your kids for a job well done.
• Manage your child’s device settings, including goals, alarms, icons and display.
• Create challenges to encourage the whole family to be more active.
• Connect with other families and compete in multi-family challenges.
• Invite up to nine trusted people to your family.
• Get notified when your child leaves or arrives at a family boundary.*
• Get notified when kids in the family request assistance from their compatible devices.
• Add and organize music on your child’s compatible device.

The latest update is the worst. My main annoyance is at how Garmin absolutely butchered the only part of the app you pay for; LTE tracking. Before, you used to be able to go into “Location”, look at the bottom of the screen, see your child’s name, and tap a button next to your child’s name to livetrack them. To extend this feature (times out at 30 minutes), you (sometimes) would get a notice saying it was about to expire, and just tap to keep going. Or if you missed it, go back and hit “Live Track” again. Simple.

Now, with the latest update, you have to go into the location screen and the old options/buttons are no longer there. The area where your child’s name/icon is, you can slide up but nothing appears. In order to use the livetrack feature with the new update, you have to click your child’s icon, wait for a menu, THEN there is a toggle button for live-tracking, nicely hidden. L You have to repeat this every time instead of one quick button. Garmin changed this overnight, told no one, and hid the most important feature. That feature is the only reason I pay $15 per month, and I had to call support just to find it.

On top of that, chat is an absolute fail. To read or respond I to my child, I usually have to force quit the app, reopen, and then download their message. Most of the time, also when going to respond, the typing box is covered by the bottom of the screen (glitch) or the app freezes completely, and I have to force quit.

The app was bad before, but at least tracking worked somewhat decently. Now it takes longer and is infuriating to use. Fix this. There’s zero reason an app I pay $15/month for should be this terrible.

I love having the connectivity with my son without having to give him a phone at such a young age. The app is user friendly and the watch is as well. My two biggest reasons for losing two stars:
 1) the lag time. It takes a while to connect to the watch when I’m trying to live track location. I’ll get alerts when he leaves home or school, but they’re typically delayed. I wish it was immediate, God forbid I really needed to know his location….(every parent knows where my head goes with that) 

2) The audio messages are cut short to only 20 seconds and you can’t connect live like a phone call, which I guess I was under the impression you could. So that was a bit of a let down. 

Overall, we do love this as a stepping stone to have connectivity, and learn responsibility.
