## Garmin Smartphone Link Description
Smartphone Link works with select Bluetooth® enabled Garmin navigation devices, including most products from the following product categories:

• Garmin Drive™, Garmin DriveSmart™, Garmin DriveAssist™, Garmin DriveLuxe™ automotive navigators
• Garmin RV and Camper navigators
• zūmo motorcycle navigators
• dēzl truck navigators
• some nüvi automotive navigators (3597/3598/2x17/2x18/2x97/2x98/2x67/2x68/2577)

Smartphone Link allows you to connect a compatible Garmin navigator and your iPhone®. Once linked, the compatible Garmin navigator uses your existing mobile data plan[1] to share information with your iPhone, including contacts, search results, favorite locations, your driving destination, and even your parking spot. With Smartphone Link, your compatible Garmin navigator can also access Garmin Live Services[2] for useful, real-time driving information. 

What Are Garmin Live Services?
 
Garmin Live Services provide the most up-to-date “live” information to your Garmin navigator using your existing mobile data plan. There’s no need for an additional data connection. Some services are included when you connect to Smartphone Link. Other services within the app are available through optional paid subscriptions offering premium content and enhanced features. To receive data relevant to your location, Garmin Live Services require your current GPS location be shared with Garmin and Garmin partners.

Included Live Services: 

• Address sharing - Send locations and online search results from your phone to your compatible Garmin navigator, and navigate there

• Garmin Live Traffic 
Avoid delays and find detours with the best-in-class real-time information. Garmin Live Traffic is updated every minute and receives more than 1,000 messages every update cycle

•	Live Parking[3]
Save time, and take the stress out of parking. View helpful parking information, including pricing and availability trends for on-street public parking, as you approach your destination.

• Weather - View forecasts and current conditions

• Last Mile - Remembers your parking spot and shows your destination, so you can find your way on foot and back again

Premium Live Services, available for a one-time[4] purchase within the app, include:

• photoLive traffic cameras[2]
Look up live photos from over 10,000 traffic cameras to see traffic and weather conditions

• Advanced Weather[2] 
View detailed forecasts, current conditions, and animated radar images, plus receive severe weather alerts

• Dynamic Off-Street Parking[2]
 Find parking close to your destination, including the number of spots available and current cost

Gives traffic updates in the middle of construction, can’t tell you that I 40 is closed in Ashville.

I can sent the location ( delivery and pick up ) directly from my iPhone to gps ! As a 27 year semi driver I fought the gps era as long as I could and about 15 years ago I got my first garmin and I have been a lifelong Garmin user since,  but this Smartlink idea was a huge swing and a miss!! I was super excited to get my first Garmin for truckers and I have been completely disappointed with both of the trucker versions I have had!! My old Garmin had the traffic updates already on it, no need for an app to link with to get updates or alerts which was WAY more convenient but I couldn’t ever update my maps for free, I always had to call in and pay for the update so I bought a new device, well it went from bad to worse. Now to get any traffic alerts or updates a have to download this app, well with this app anytime I close the app, shut my garmin down, lose cell service, or walk away from the truck I have to “forget this device” on my phone and completely re pair it with the Garmin which is SUPER convenient when you’re driving down the road to lose any traffic information!! I’ve also noticed that even with updating my maps there are still a lot of “unknown addresses” even though my Apple and Google maps find the addresses with no problem whatsoever. I have owned 4 Garmin devices and I never thought I’d give up on them, but with this device it may very well be the last one I ever buy, my $30 Rand McNally atlas is just as much help finding directions and since the Garmin doesn’t help with traffic 90% of the time it’s basically a $500 waste of money! I can use my Apple or Google maps and get up to date traffic information which is more than my Garmin does and I don’t have to buy a separate device! Shame on you Garmin, I expect better out of you than what I can get with a $30 atlas and my smartphone!!

This Smartlink app needs more schooling or call it something else besides SMARTlink. Sometimes I’m spending 20-30 minutes trying to get it to link up together. When it does link up it works good for awhile. CAN NOT depend on it. I have WI-FI in my truck and I loved to have it link d to it instead of Bluetooth. Cause if I get out of it he truck to go to the shipper or receiver or in the truck stop, 90% of the time it’s not gonna hook up again for awhile. 😡

I bought the Weather Alerts upgrade and when opening it it shows you are in an area not supported, the middle of the ocean. Then I moved it the the USA and it shows alerts for Kentucky but nothing for Ohio. In Ohio we have a tornado warning and 3 severe thunderstorm warnings. I only lost about 5.00 for the purchase but more importantly I can not trust it for weather information.
