I have been paying $10 for each of two months and only have access to about 7 articles and the “free for all” coronavirus-related ones. And, guess what... Within the app, there’s a “don’t miss all our articles for an extra $15/month”. Customer support is provided with tremendous delay (to me length of several days) and VIA MAIL ONLYYY... Such a poor effort from a supposedly leading business institution.
Good application There is only one problem: you can not log in to the application with the user account on the HBR.org page. Shows an error, says the password or user is wrong.
For my use this app is inferior to web or printed edition. It does not allow picking a specific magazine issue and browsing through it, resuming an article (you can flag it but that is not the same as a bookmark). Also, it cannot display articles as printed (e.g. in PDF) that I particularly like about the magazine.
How are we at the end of 2024, and there is still not a way to consume the content through the app in magazine form? The published version found in bookstores is the superior way to read HBR. The developer has stated for years that this feature is in beta, and that it should be rolled out soon. As if they were developing software for NASA. Please implement this basic feature for paying customers.
The new HBR app is a breath of fresh air compared to the old experience.
I find the app a bit clunky, which makes me hesitant to use it more often. Additionally, the account settings menu could use improvement. That said, the articles are generally excellent. I could appreciate a broader range of opinions, but the depth of subject is sufficient for me.
Sadly, the iPad app is missing the opportunity to take advantage of the form factor and deliver an exceptional experience. The layout of articles on the iPad feels completely off - as if it was designed for an iPhone. It’s unfortunate that while the content is top notch, the experience is lacking. A basic feature that used to exist but is missing now (or really well hidden!) is to read a particular issue (current or a recent one) as a collection of articles, instead they are lost and jumbled in a sea of content; also missing is the ability for offline storage and reading of a particular issue, which was really useful as a way to catch up on articles while traveling without wifi access. These used to exist, so I am at a loss as to why they were removed - the annual subscription is certainly not cheap, so the iPad app is disappointing. I hope someone from the HBR product team is monitoring comments. (Disclaimer: I don’t do a lot of app reviews… but I like the magazine so much, and the iPad app is so atrocious … that I feel compelled to leave a detailed review!)
App is aging in reverse. Used to have the ability to download and read the magazine, but that was years ago. Now it's nearing the stage of being a beta app with little to no functionality.
After many requests to improve the ability to read issues on a plane as well as listen to audio articles offline I am done. After 25 years as a customer I don't understand why what is considered a world leader in thought can't figure out how to make a functional app. Just cancelled my subscription. Thank you HBR.
