Hour Blocks: Day Planner

I start doing something at about 1 AM but there is no a hour block for 1 AM! And no blocks for 2, 3, 4 and 5 AM either. And no way to add them. It is funny that app is not really tested that the author forgot to include 1/4 of 24 hour blocks or options to add or remove them. The app is pretty much useless anyway without easy and quick way to add and remove blocks. It supposed to help me focus, right? Then let me remove some hour blocks if I know I will be doing something few hours. Let me add multiple block if I need them. Let me name each block, what if I want to do something from 3:30 to 6:30? I want to create or rename a single block for that. Implement this basic functionality and then maybe the app could be useful. It is not practical to organize a day by hour exactly. Hour blocks could be a starting template but nothing more.

“Hour blocks presents you the timeline of your next 24 hours” (source: app’s AS description) No, it doesn’t. In fact, I can only view my schedule from 6am to 11pm. Apparently I don’t exist in any other time of the day. Bold of you to assume I don’t need to wake up at 4am and commute to work which starts at 6am. I mean yeah, I wake up at 2pm at best, but can you at least include the extra hours from 12am to 6am? Some people may be partying or, perhaps, have to work night shifts. To top that, I’ve never seen a normal person organise their timetable strictly by hours. It makes little to no sense to limit users from creating a task at say, 4:30pm or 5:15pm. It never works like that. Yes, I know, only includes hourly tasks for the sake of clean design, but you’re making an organiser, not an art project. You can’t just include sub-tasks and call it a day. Perhaps you as a developer propagate some brand new method of day-planning where only hourly tasks and unicorns exist. I mean hell, the app’s name is “Hour blocks”. But for god’s sake, if you’re calling your app that, at least include all 24 blocks available. Is this some sort of trial version of my life where a quarter of it is non-existent? Overall the app is ok, love the design and the UI, it’s very intuitive, Hour Blocks are a lot more easy to navigate than Google Calendar. Doesn’t overwhelm you with a ton of useless information, but also fails to provide something necessary at times.

I don’t understand why you would use this app? It makes no sense, not the best UI, and it’s only by the hour? Use apple calendar instead lol

The one bad thing is the reminders don't work. I've changed the settings so it reminds you for upcoming hour blocks, but EVERY single day, the setting resets to "No" instead of "Yes". It's very frustrating, because oftentimes I'll already have the day set up before I check the setting, only to realize that it reset to "No", and it doesn't remind you for blocks that you created before you set it to "Yes". Aside from that, the app is very minimal, clean, and user-friendly. Unfortunately, the Reminders feature is a big thing for me, so that's why my review is 3 stars.

This app is really good for getting a simple and general overview of your day, and I use it to roughly plan out when I am going to do what. It’s amazing that this is now a free app - no ads, subscriptions, just simple planning. There are definitely some limitations - but that’s what keeps it nice and simple (and that’s what a calendar app is for anyway). I think the developer is no longer actively working on this app, though it would make it a lot more useful if reminders could be set to be at the start time, and if there are repeated blocks of the same name no reminder is necessary. It would also be nice if calendar events showed by the hour block that they are related to. I would recommend this app to anyone who doesn’t really want a hard schedule, but more of a general plan for the day.

This app is great for when you need to organize your day in detail and helps me bring some much needed organization to my busy day. Awesome app! I was wondering if you could add the capibility of renaming and re organizing subtasks as if i make a mistake, i need to delete every single subtask i added after to get to the one i want to change.

I love the simplicity and ease of use. It’s not cluttered or overwhelming, however, I would love the ability to change the interval to 30 or even 15 mins instead of the default 60.
