This app is terrible the original one is way better.  This app makes you download different areas when looking for sites and then it’s confusing to actually see what you downloaded. If I could give this zero stars I would.

I only downloaded this because I downloaded the original version and it recommended I download this newer version, however, it doesn’t show me anything! I have toggled all of the filters, tried changing location just for it to show me something, but nothing…. I like the older version better.

Yes, I will agree, It’s a little different from the first version but I love this new version once you get into it and learn it (which did take a little bit at first).  We traveled 200 nights in this year (2024) and 100 of them (approximately) were Boondocking - I found almost all of them on this app. It’s so easy to see where the location is, what the reviews say about it, and the photos really help.

We’ve been traveling full time in a bus for nearly 2 years and iOverlander was my go-to for places to stay. Loved it, recommended it to everyone. Then the update to this atrocity came. I hate this thing. All the ads make it look cheap and trashy, the subscriptions are out of this world pricey, and it’s a headache to use. Crossing state lines on a road trip and using the free version where you can only download one state at a time makes it impossible. It’s so much harder to navigate the app. I’ve been ignoring this and using my OG iOverlander. Can it be that the people who want bells & whistles can pay for this fancy new one and those of us that don’t want that can keep the old version? Not gonna lie, when the old one shuts down I’ll probably delete both of these. I’m relieved to see this one rated so poorly next to the original because it means I’m not just a hater, this app is worse.

The community made this app, helped other campers find places to safely travel, uploaded there information on location and now are using there own information and charging them for it.. and not even a fair rate.. I could see needing to run operation cost. But it’s lame

I reall enjoy the first versions of this app, I have found many travelers use it. However, this update is worse than the original. It has less places and does not work well. It’s a really simple concept and it should not be this difficult to make an improve version. the new version should include sites from previous versions.

With all the useful reviews posted here why are you wasting time making up excuses for all the obvious mess ups instead of listening to your customers and fixing them? As a potential new customer myself, I’m forced to sign your contract before seeing anything concerning the app itself. Just letting you know that between these horrible reviews, the lack of any urgency to fix any of these issues mentioned, the cost I’m afraid to see, and the immediate mandatory contract required before knowing what you need or will be getting; all of this leads to simply running away. And that’s exactly what I’m doing

Developer reached out and helped explain that I have to download the areas I want to see. Once I did that, everything seems to be somewhat similar to the original app. I do like how you can favorite certain locations as well as see all the photos at once. Also, check-in is easier and you can save them as drafts to come back to. Will give it another shot.

Don’t download this version. They say upgrade but it has no information unless you download your area and then you can’t see adjacent locations or regions unless you subscribe. Total farse!  Keep the original version or use something better like Gaia, Overland Bound, or OnX

Terrible downgrade to an amazing app that used to work well. I couldn’t figure out how to show any data. I like the old version so much better. Why mess with a platform that worked well. It was easier to use, simple and user friendly. This version is garbage. Why would I pay for garbage? I’m not against paying a small fee for an app but for the price per year this is total junk. Don’t waste your time.

After supporting, informing, promoting this app, its a huge let down. We supported it for years, the filters and mapping were simple and great. Zooming out to see the bigger picture of múltiple states or countries made longer Overland trips easy. Now? Forced and limited downloads. High fees. Adverts if on free plan. 
Huge bummer on every level.

You know what us overlanders like?  Simplicity, Quality, Reliability, Stacked functions that save space and allow us to enjoy the experience.

This new version is unnecessary!  Please remove the update suggestion from version one and if you do feel like improving the app, admin could remove the CLOSED sites listed.

The original was perfect, never let me down. I am a full time traveler and waking up in the morning and spending 2 minutes to figure out where to stay the next night was super easy. Now im expected to download new areas every time i want to move just to look for another place. And you have to subscribe if you want to download more. Especially if people have data plans that throttle, downloading may not be possible. Even If they take down the original i will never switch to ioverlander 2

### *---- "DO NOT UPDATE FROM THE 1st VERSION IF U HAVENT"
This app was perfect, it was a community driven database to help people spend less money while maximizing outdoor opportunities. Now the developers have gone to an incredibly expensive subscription model with ads. If you opt out of the subscription your ability to use the app is heavily throttled. Only one state at a time can be viewed which makes traveling outside of service and planning across state lines impossible. This app filled a unique and necessary niche for vanlifers/thrifty travelers/overlanders and now it has lost its way and is overwhelmed by greed ($70 a year???). I can understand having ads to pay for ongoing maintenance/upkeep but what we have to deal with now, as the userbase that uploaded the initial information in the first place, is a massive disappointment. I provided a large amount of information to the initial app and now i have to deal with a paywall to access my work! DISAPPOINTED!!!

This new updated app is really confusing to use, and overly developed. I love the original app, used it for years, and still use it as it is much easier to navigate. I really have given it a lot of usage, and I just don’t get it. Why would I want to download everything that I wanna look at and take up unnecessary space on my phone? The old app just displayed it without having to download it. I’m also noticing that there are things missing when I’ve tried to look them up in the new app that are on the old app. Please, please, please, don’t ever let go of the original version!
