Just Press Record

I’m sure some people have workflows for which this app is perfect. However, the default settings and the functionality is just barely missing what would work for my circumstance (and I imagine a lot of others) My goal is to capture ideas on the run (literally). I installed Just Press Record on my Apple Watch. However, for good reason, recordings on the watch need to make it to the phone to be useful. The default is to auto delete recordings after a week. And the sync didn’t seem to be working. (Do both phone and watch apps have to be open? It doesn’t tell you this if so… and there are ways to sync the file system, such that the apps wouldn’t need to be open…) so, I lost all the recordings I’ve made. I haven’t even gotten this far, but I bet it would be nice to have a way to easily export recordings and/or transcriptions to other tools. For example, with an iOS shortcut. That would allow me to integrate it into my workflow smoothly. I’m really hoping these issues can be addressed so that I can make this app part of my toolbox!

Extremely frustrated. I’ve now lost multiple hour+ long recordings because my device’s battery ran out mid recording. I can understand why this might result in SOME recording loss but to lose the entire recording… no way… not worth the risk.

With an Apple Watch it’s quite amazing. You open the app, there’s one big beautiful red button which is so inviting. Tap it and off to the races, recording with great quality just like that. I haven’t used the transcribe feature. The syncing has always been flawless and, most importantly, thoughtless. I can’t recommend this app enough if you have an Apple Watch, it’s literally a must have for Apple Watch Just Press record is that good. Like, a must have utility for your watch. It’s just amazing. And for iPhone, if you need a super easy way to record whatever it’s the same thing as above lol. Anyway, enjoy.

I have been using this to record. It works on my Apple Watch too, and it's very handy. It automatically syncs from my watch to the app, and to the cloud. I am really happy with it. thank you.

Currently syncs with iCloud but would love Dropbox option to put in a specific location.

Using “Just Press Record” is incredibly convenient across all my devices. I use it on an iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch to take notes for myself, during meetings, and even for projects with friends. This feature makes taking audio notes much easier than resorting to physical notes. I also appreciate the ability to sync my notes with iCloud across all my devices. What truly stands out is the seamless recording and transcribing process when importing through iCloud and processing on my M1 iPad. For instance, a 45-minute meeting can be transcribed in about 5-6 minutes, while a shorter recording of 15-20 minutes takes just a minute or so. This is significantly faster compared to transcribing on the phone, which can be time-consuming but still worth it. While I hope that “Just Press Record” will eventually embrace Apple Intelligence functions to enhance transcribing, it’s already an amazing tool. If you ever need to take notes in an audio format or record meeting notes, this app is definitely worth investing in.

This app is absolutely fantastic. Both the phone and watch versions are very simple and do exactly what I need for basic use. However, it does have an increase in errors with medical jargon. If there were an update to improve medical language, I’d like it so much that I would repurchase!

I purchased this with the sole purpose of using it for the Apple Watch when incoming calls come in because the Apple voice app turns off with an incoming call. It’s still turns off, so it is basically a worse version of the stock app and now I’m out $5.
