Before they switched to this god awful, low budget magazine blog version—their magazine was truly a work of ark. I subscribed for years purely because of the QUALITY of the digital version and the content was equally as impressive. Then somehow they decided on their idiom of “if it works absolutely perfect, eff it let’s start over.” And now we’re left with this abomination. RIP good digital version.

Unfortunately, the app falls way short of the print version (reviewing in 2018). I use this app on my ipad, so I can read it when I don't have the internet, but that is impossible to do. It is constantly updating issues, and then you are prevented from reading without completely downloading the issue again. The downloads are big too. Even when I try to read it while connected, it is always a ten minute wait just to download. Kind of defeats the purpose of a periodical. Also, the content appears to be a filtered down version of the print version, and just isn't as enjoyable to read. They really need to get someone who knows what they're doing to sort these issues out.

The old version occasionally worked on my IPad Mini. The new one does not. Customer support said they discontinued the app and ended the support contract and the app is supposed to be removed from the store. I asked for a refund and they are giving me the run-around. Expect a week between any replies from customer support. The android version does not work either. The paper magazine is great.

This app works well enough by & large, but there are a few issues: first, there is an unacceptably high frequency of out-of-focus pages, and these are out of focus to the point of illegibility. Second, the pop-up app navigation bar doesn't work at all, so if I want to navigate from the issue I'm viewing to the library, I have to wait however long it takes for the app to default to library display.  This is a pain in the rump if you have to take quick advantage of a wifi opportunity. Also, lately both my Bauer mags take days, or even weeks to download.  MCN is a great mag, but you gotta really want it to put up with this lousy app.
