## Notes Description
Notes is the best place to jot down quick thoughts or to save longer notes filled with checklists, images, web links, scanned documents, handwritten notes or sketches. And with iCloud, it’s easy to keep all your devices in sync, so you’ll always have your notes with you.

Features

Powerful note-taking
• Add attachments — PDFs, photos, maps, web links and more. 
• Record and transcribe audio directly into a note.
• Scan paper documents with the built-in document scanner.
• Secure sensitive or personal data in a locked note.
• Create checklists. Make a shopping list, a wish list or a to-do list, then tap to tick off items as you go.
• Apply different text styles, such as heading or body, bulleted lists, highlighting and more.
• Tap next to section headers to reveal a chevron to collapse text.
• Add tables to quickly organise information.
• Use your finger, or Apple Pencil on a compatible iPad, to sketch directly in your note or an inline PDF. Choose from a variety of brush styles and colours, and add lines and grids to a note for easier writing and drawing.
• Take a Quick Note without opening the app — add Quick Note to your Control Centre, swipe up from the bottom-right corner with an Apple Pencil on iPad, or use Fn-Q on a keyboard.

Organise and search
• Search for text in notes, your handwriting, and even inside scanned documents and photos like receipts or bills.
• Link from one note to another to connect ideas, content or any information. Try typing >> for a shortcut to add links while writing in your note. 
• Keep your notes in folders and subfolders, or add tags to categorise them. Type or handwrite tags directly in your note — like #cooking or #expenses. 
• Automatically organise notes in a Smart Folder based on filters. Create rules to filter for Date Created, Checklists, Attachments and more. 
 
Collaborate 
• Collaborate on entire shared folders or on specific shared notes.
• Mention friends to notify them of important updates and link them directly to a shared note. 
• See what others added to a shared note while you were away with Activity view, a day-to-day list summary of activity from each collaborator. 

Notes for Apple Watch
• View all of your iCloud notes right from your wrist; you can also pin notes, complete checklist items, or create new notes with dictation or Siri.

Literally my most used app; I spend hours on there writing and noting down ideas, but one thing has always bugged me and it’s the fact that when you create a folder, you can’t have a custom order to organise the notes inside. I don’t want to sort them by date edited, created or title, I want to organise them in a certain manner and there’s no way to do that. It’s such a small thing but it would make all the difference. Please add this in the next update.

PLEASE FIX THE SCAN FUNCTION OF THIS APP.

Scanning to pdf no longer works correctly or as it used to. Now scanning creates a massive file which quite often can’t be emailed due to its size. Where it used to create a pdf of a few 100kb they’re now many MBs.  Please fix this. Switching to greyscale doesn’t work, file size still 3-6 MB not 5-900kb as it was before.

Do any Apple developers actually read this or are we wasting our time?

I use Notes a lot on my phone to take notes and remember things, I also do the same with my iPad but because I have more on my iPad I use it more and there is more data. Unfortunately, on my iPad, it has started to lag because of how much I use it. The keyboard is really slow and deleting is difficult. Please fix your bugs and glitches because this is ruining my experience with your app.

I’ve used this app for years and 1 day recently everything disappeared. All my notes curated over years just vanished. Went of loads of forums and tried everything but to no avail. Extremely upset and frustrated. I’m starting again on another app.

This is probably a message for customer support but I thought I’d make it public recently I’ve run out of space on iCloud and locally so I’ve missed a few updates and recently I opened notes to write something down and all my notes were gone I thought it was just being buggy but then when I pressed the create new note button it just said “to create a new note please directly upgrade your notes” I don’t know if this is a problem with my storage space or with the software but it’s an absolute pain and I’ve had to write down my notes in my very volatile electrochemical central neural network short term memory system which restricts space for more important tasks such as conversations or as you can see with this review punctuation anyway my point is I can’t use it which is slowly driving me insane and I hope I’ll remember to research my problems and manually fix this problem and change my rating to five stars until then it’s 1 star good night I need sleep

This app was fantastic until the September 2024 update, it crashes constantly now and you can't access larger notes. It's been unusable for four months becoming redundant to use for anything other than a shopping list, if that.

Great app, can’t find any fault with it. My only suggestion is to have more options for sharing notes.

This app holds over 2,500 notes and is accessible across most browsers and iOS devices. It has features for sharing but no option for sharing the individual note as a .txt file on your phone’s built in storage area. This is what I would love to see introduced and possibly include GitHub so we can save them as .txt, .note and as .md as well. That’s my only real suggestion for improvements. Otherwise, best note-taking app I’ve used since Notepad.

I use Notes everyday and with the new upgrade they are even better. Notes organise my life! You can save  information in so many ways, you can organise it in so many ways, and the “Find” feature helps me when I’ve forgotten where it is! It really is so useful and user friendly.

For context I liked to study science and I used notes to keep notes on what I had learned and that’s what I did for about 5 months.
And then when I wanted to add something new, I accidentally deleted half of my work, now that part was my fault but then hen I tried to undo it like I always did when I did something wrong the app for some reason exited the note and I couldn’t undo it, my notes were gone, half of those 5 months of research down the drain, I’m switching to word in the the hope that this doesn’t happen again.

This app used to be good, I don’t know what you have to done to it but it is so slow, it keeps lagging and it takes ages to write sentences as it can’t seem to keep up with the typing. I’ve tried different ways to fix it but it’s still the same

I have IMAP instructions saved as a PDF on my iPhone. I want to save them in Notes as a locked file. I can’t because the app says notes containing PDFs cannot be locked. This is just another example of Apple’s steady decline into mediocrity.
