I absolutely hate the aesthetics and usability of Apple Notes, but Notion’s inability to work offline, bad syncing feature & complexity got me to look for a better app - and I found Noto. I pay 1€ monthly for the Pro Features and I’m truly in love! It’s like better designed Apple Notes with immediate sync across my Apple Ecosystem, it’s beautiful & has all the functions one needs. I took one star off because there are some features that are still minimally buggy and need to be tweaked (e.g. Manual Keyboard Shortcuts — I can’t get certain shortcut combinations to work, the system doesn’t recognise some hardware keys from my laptop which irks me a bit, but this is a minimal issue for me). It names every markdown document ‘content.md’ and slots it into a folder with the actual name of the file. The consequence is that other markdown editors don‘t know how to deal with those folders and files. Why on earth does it not just export with the file name being the headline (or first line), and a structure that mirrors the app‘s content, meaning documents being in their respective folders, not in folders per document. Except of course, that would make switching away from the app easier. Wobei gewisse Funktionen z.B. eine Tabelle zu erstellen, meiner Meinung nach auch in der Gratisversion verfügbar sein sollten.
