Do you get unwanted calls or text messages from phone numbers similar to your own? With Number Shield, block an entire group of numbers at once. Just enter a wildcard for each digit you want to block. For example, if your number is 714-555-1234, scammers might use a number like 714-555-6789. Block all similar numbers by entering 714-555-####. Wildcards and numbers can be combined in any order you choose. Block international numbers, too! To make sure you don't miss calls from your family and friends, phone numbers in your contacts are always allowed. Block numbers directly from your phone's missed calls screen. Just follow these steps: 1. Tap the “ i ” button next to the missed call. 2. Tap “Share Contact”. 3. Tap “Block Similar Numbers”. (If you don't see this action, tap “Edit Actions...“ to enable it.) 4. Now you'll see the Number Shield number entry screen. Tap “Done” to block calls from similar numbers. Please note: • Each number pattern can contain up to 7 wildcards, and up to 50,000,000 phone numbers can be blocked. • Blocked calls are sent directly to voice mail. • Blocked text messages are sent to the “Junk” filter in the Messages app. • iMessage messages are not blocked. • When “Do Not Disturb” is enabled on your phone, calls that should be blocked may appear in your phone's list of missed calls. Didn’t stop it. I had to add multiple second 3 digests. This just started happening. Worked great up until the last 8 month or so. Problem is partially with Apple, who only allows apps like this to block 2 million numbers. These devs should have made the limits more clear before charging for this product. With that said, it’s only $3. It could be a great app if Apple would lift the restrictions, or develop something that only allows certain area codes. This was the first solid app I found that peacefully ended the torment of so-called neighbor spoofing robocalls. I got 5-7 calls a day from numbers beginning with the same first 6 of 10 digits as my number. This app made it easy to block them and forget about it. Recently, iOS & this app updated to allow 50 million blocked numbers. So now I use this to block a couple entire area codes that spam calls predominantly come from for me. This was the best dollar I ever spent on the App Store. Edit 12/2022 - been using this tool over 4 years now and it stops a lot of spam. Very flexible rule creation. Love this app. Edit 9/2024 - still relying on this app to keep the relentless spoofed calls from my area code at bay. It’s still doing a magnificent job! Edit 3/31/25 - Still loving this app, and believe it may be the only utility of its kind when it comes to being able to block entire area codes easily. An will not move off opening screen -- Groovyev, 2025-03-25 ### ***-- "Great concept but needs work" The app is a great idea but I don't see it doing anything additional for iPhone users than the default iPhone "Block Unknown Callers" does.. even when a number range is blocked, calls occasionally come through and it doesn't truly "block" the call.. it just prevents your phone from ringing and the spam callers get sent to voicemail, so VMs fill up fast. Lastly, adding number ranges can take a LONG time. It takes my app 6 minutes to block a 4-digit (i.e. last 4 numbers) number range now (brand new phone, no other issues on it) and you CANNOT use your phone while the numbers are being blocked. You have to sit there and wait for the spinning circle to go away. If you close the app / do anything else on your phone in the middle of it blocking numbers, it will restart the blocking all over when you open the app again. So just some UI issues and functionality that could be improved -- njburrito, 2025-03-24 ### ****- "A few will trickle in but the daily volume is down remarkably" I get at least 20 politically motivated texts a day and it’s obnoxious and so annoying that I’ve stopped reading thus responding to all texts. I got number shield blocked a certain area code and another with the same consistent middle exchange two days ago and the volume is down considerably, while a few will trickle in (3 to 4/day) it isn’t constant like it was. I was getting a bunch of calls that were not for my phone and a couple that I know I've told to not call my phone, but of course they'll still do it. The regular block function did ok but blocked people could still leave messages which defeats the point of blocking them. I don't want them calling my phone AT ALL. Enter Number Shield. Talk about 'you might as well give up and report the number as inactive' because you cannot get through NOR leave any messages. PERFECTION. Once you've got your settings lined up properly for the app to identify contacts within the app it works like a charm. I no longer receive a bunch of random calls & if one does magically get through, I just block it & reload my block list. This may happen once a month if that. Usually it's a random number but once you activate block and or blocking a similar sting of number patterns it's "SILAAAAANNNNNCCCEEEE PUNK!"
