A quality app and an extremely handy reference dictionary on your iPhone or iPad. I’ve used this app for some time now at work & at home and it is extremely useful and easy to use, especially when you need to understand the meaning and use of words.

I bought this wanting THE reference dictionary. Unfortunately it lacks entries for words I come across in scrabble. An example is audient. This word is present in the Free Dictionary app (ad free version costs less than a tenth of this, and has more extensive definitions). Disappointed and surprised.
Update feb 2015 - it no longer even opens in ios8 and there is no update. Do not buy it!

A great dictionary but the latest version of the app has a couple of bugs: it frequently crashes, especially when entering a word, and seems to automatically transfer your last text message into the search window. Needs work.

Simply it is rubbish and information scam. I have made format more than 4 times and it was the main reason.

### ***** "Most problematic app I own"
Want it, use it, hate it. All versions have been problematic. Last one loaded miles of code before word info. Deleted it and reloaded only to be charged again. This version folds and constantly wants to run in safe mode. Now I get push notifications with ODE Logo and message "I am a software thief". Sick of it.

Weekly updates is absolutely annoying.

The app itself is great but the frequencies as to update is absolutely disgraceful!!!!

### ***** "New feature includes copy protection bugs"
Was my favourite and also the most expensive app on my phone for a long time. With the latest version, it started occasionally popping up the message "Run in safe mode!". Then it started crashing. Then even when it wasn't running it started giving me a notification saying "I am a software thief!", even when it wasn't running. That was a bit insulting. When I next tried to sync my phone it couldn't be installed due to an unknown error.

Otherwise it's very fully featured and the catalogue of audio pronunciations are great for resolving arguments without anyone having to learn IPA, so  I'm still giving it five stars. (That rating will decline rapidly if the false positives on the copy protection don't go away soon.)

Missing the thesaurus section - synonyms & antonyms - very disappointing. Should have modeled this app on The Learning Company's 1998 version of the Oxford Talking Dictionary.

Good dictionary but disappointed to find that tapping on a headword doesn't link to Companion Thesaurus nor Companion Synonyms, both made my Enfour, as had been previously suggested. The link does work the other way round however, from Companion Thesaurus. Needs to be sorted quickly considering it costs over $30.

This is a great app. I love the audio for pronunciations and it's never let me down on finding a word. If you want quality, you need to pay for it.

Yes, it seems expensive in current market of free/cheap apps, but hey, if we want to progress we need to pay (just not through iTunes/Apple) for development. 

What can I say, I love dictionaries.  In my humble opinion the best is Chambers, followed by the no-where-to-be-found Readers Digest Universal Dictionary (I kid you not), but their app didn't read so well.  This offers voice pronunciation, a must. Need to play with it more to offer a better review as I haven't really looked at definitions/etymology etc. I was just sold on voice, yes, howjsay and forvo do the same, but still require internet access.

I wish someone would do the same for medical terminology and names of people/places.

I am using the version prior to this one and it is fantastic. It is easily the best $30.00 I have spent. The app is fast to respond, answers evrything I throw at it and gives the root , Old English, Old French, Latin etc. This version has a Thesaurus built in which looks mad. If I could justify the purchase I wouyld by it for the Thesaurus alone. I am at Uni and I use this thing constantly, it is so much quicker than using an online dictionary
that requires an internet connection.
