## PocketGrib Description
With PocketGrib you can download, view and analyse global weather data while on the go.

Wind, precipitation, pressure, temperature, wave and other data extracted from GRIB files are displayed through our powerful GRIB viewer interface.

Perfect for sailors (both sailing and in the pub), windsurfers, storm chasers, outdoor enthusiasts, amateur and professional meteorologists.

PocketGrib downloads and displays the following weather types:
- Wind speed and direction (10 m above ground/sea)
- Precipitation (rain, snow etc)
- Pressure
- Air temperature
- Waves (including Mediterranean and Black Sea)
- Cloud cover
- Relative humidity
- CAPE (Convective Atmospheric Potential Energy)
- Current (Atlantic only)
- 500mb Height

Direct download of GRIB data from NOAA's GFS (Global Forecast System) model
- Forecasts up to 8 days
- Data steps: 3hr, 6hr, 12hr
- Worldwide coverage
- Resolution: 0.25°, 0.5°, 1°, 2°
- Data updated 4 times a day (every 6 hours)
Also support for COAMPS (0.2° resolution), WW3, NOGAPS, RTOFS (Currents) and FNMOC WW3 (Mediterranean wave) models.

GRIB forecasts are published without human intervention or review. As such, the end user requires some knowledge and awareness. Most GRIB models do NOT accurately forecast hurricanes and tropical cyclones so their use should be combined with specific hurricane and tropical cyclone forecasts.

Jeg bruker denne som en god måte å få oversikt over værsystemene fra New York og Moskva - Mddelhavet. Jeg får oversikt over trykksystemene og skjønner hva som foregår. For lokale forhold bruker jeg heller YR.NO, og forventer ike at Grib skal kunne gi gode lokale varsler. 
Interessant å lese erfaringen om at Grib erfaringsvis viser en skalaenhet (Beaufort?) for lite mht vindstyrken, det passer også med mitt inntrykk ca.

Finner app'en svært nyttig, men en må hele tiden legge til noe mer vind enn den melder. Ser at dette også gjelder igrib, så muligens det kan ha noe med hvilke høyder en beregner vinden.

Jeg bruker mye av min tid på havet og bruker mest PC utgaven av Ugrib og er meget fornøyd med den, og jeg liker layouten på pad utgaven.
Den stemmer veldig godt med det virkelige været som kommer, det eneste jeg kan si som ikke stemmer, og det er hele tiden er styrken på vinden! Den viser hele tiden en styrke mindre enn den vinden som er i virkeligheten.

Jeg har en båt i USA, og vil gjerne følge med på om det er tropiske orkaner i emning over Mauritania og West Sahara, og deres antatte bane over Atlanterhavet. Pocket Grib er slett ikke klar for denne oppgaven. 
Da bruker jeg iGrib, med denne kan jeg se værvarsler for store områder og følge orkaners vandring over havet. Jeg vet om Hurricanes opptil en uke før de er navngitt og varslet i nyhetsmedia.
