Playing the game in portrait mode on modern iOS versions results in a heavily warped screen.
I’ve been playing Powder since 2007 on various platforms, and it’s really disappointing seeing the game fall into disrepair like this. Especially when this port has half the game behind a paywall.
So small
Fast download - very nice.
Deserves to go viral
This game truly deserves to go viral in its current state. So fun. So different. I’m happy I can actually play it at my desk at work offline. Love it’s feel so much.
Game is amazing. Graphics rendering is poor.
Amazing game that really deserves an update in terms of how it renders on iOS. Most fonts and tiles are unusably bad in terms of how they are rendered. Even the default tiles look quite poor here. It’s sad because the gameplay is the best of any roguelike on iOS.
Solid multi-platform dungeon crawler
Great game, but some QoL improvements like higher resolution rendering and full screen display would be nice considering the $10 asking price that’s unique to this version. The scaling tends to look a little wonky, regardless of tile set or whether I’m playing in portrait or landscape.
That being said, most people will likely never even get to the point the free version locks out, so I can’t bash it too much.
(FIXED)Love this game, one control bug
This is my favorite roguelike, period. Highly suggest this to anyone!!! One big problem though: when pressing A to cast spells, zap wands, or throw, the game does not recognize that I need to lift my finger and press A again. If you do not release the A button super fast, your first button press will register and you'll shoot yourself with whatever you were going to use! Please please fix. I'd buy the game twice if this is patched
EDIT: THANK YOU!! Ladies and gentlemen, he fixed it. I love you... switched my rating from one star to the five star I’ve always wanted to do. Adding the delay was smart man
Great fun, although controls can get in the way
The game is wonderful, but as a game designed for keyboard/button use, the touchscreen controls can be sub optimal. Not infrequently have I accidentally double tapped A, and cast magic missile or some other spell inadvertently at myself. It is to the gameplay’s credit that despite this, I keep coming back for more.
PLEASE FIX BUGS
I love this game, but the Zap function needs to be fixed! A button mechanics need to be reviewed. Thanks!
Ideal rougelike
Powder is one of the few games where the tutorial is actually helpful. Once you learn how the game works, it contains endless replay value. Outstanding.
Please fix controls!
Author: the repeat delay and repeat rate are way too fast! Please reduce it or allow customization.
I press the virtual A button to select an item and the repeat happens before I can lift my finger away. So I often select zap and end up zapping myself by accident instead of selecting another square (and many other similar accidents such as running into enemies I don’t mean to attack). I can’t make it out of the tutorial because of this!
