Toonaangevende beveiligingsfuncties
Berichten worden altijd end-to-end versleuteld opgeslagen op Proton Mail-servers en veilig tussen Proton-servers en gebruikersapparaten verzonden. Hierdoor is het risico op onderschepte berichten nihil.

Zero access tot je e-mailcontent
Dankzij de zero-access architectuur van Proton Mail worden je gegevens zodanig versleuteld dat wij ze niet kunnen inzien. Gegevens worden aan de clientzijde versleuteld met een encryptiesleutel waartoe Proton geen toegang heeft. Dat betekent dat we niet beschikken over de technische mogelijkheden om je berichten te decoderen.

Opensourcecryptografie
De opensourcesoftware van Proton Mail is grondig gecontroleerd door beveiligingsexperts van over de hele wereld en biedt daardoor de hoogste mate van bescherming. Proton Mail gebruikt alleen veilige implementaties van AES, RSA en OpenPGP, en alle gebruikte cryptografische bibliotheken zijn open-source. Door het gebruik van opensourcebibliotheken kan Proton Mail garanderen dat de versleutelingsalgoritmen geen ingebouwde achterdeuren hebben.

Ik wilde van Google af en heb een Unlimited Account op Proton Mail genomen. Na betaling van een jaarabonnement à € 119,00 ben ik vrijwel direct geblokkeerd vanwege verdachte activiteiten/violations. Daar heb niet eens de tijd voor gehad. Lijkt verdacht veel op een scam! Kortom van de regen in drup. Op mijn klachten wordt met automatisch gegeneerde mails gereageerd. Voorals nog niets gehoord op mijn verzoek op terugbetaling. Een gewaarschuwd mens telt voor twee: laat Proton links liggen!!

I use Protonmail for many years (paid version) and really support them and the thoughts behind Protonmail.
But unfortunately I have to say that the email app on the iPad is very, very unreliable. Half of the times it does not update or simply gets stuck during loading new emails. Resulting in an empty screen.

This issue is getting worse over the past year and I have contacted the helpdesk a couple of times. The not very helpful answer: we will inform development.

Luckily I use Protonmail for my personal email. It’s still way too unreliable to use it for business.

The app on the iPhone works fine, no complaints there. It’s just the iPad version. And yes, recent iPad and always latest OS.

Het gebeurt meerdere keren per dag dat de app geen berichten laat zien bij openen. Dit kan langer dan een uur duren, waarna de app vanzelf sluit.  Ook krijg ik regelmatig meldingen dat er een nieuw bericht is, wat dan vervolgens niet zichtbaar is.
Berichten openen vaak niet.
Al van alles geprobeerd. Opslag geleegd, prullenbak geleegd, app opnieuw geïnstalleerd, cache geleegd etc. 
Het maakt niets uit.

Its logo and style looks good. But loading times of the inbox ( with just 3 pages) takes long. 
But the worst part and why I now leave proton is cause it cannot search in your mail. I migrated all my mails to it but its search is so limited and simply incorrect that it cant find mails. Also the “offline” function on mac where it loads all your mail cant do a proper search. So I have a mailbox where I cant find my important old emails. That is silly. 
The VPN service on the other hand could be the greatest I have had so far, if only it could work in China (biggest country in the world), which in some ways I also find very silly. 
Anyway Proton does an amazing job but not there yet for another 2 years at least. 
I didn't mention there is no word/excel processor which also again defeats its purpose cause now I have to download the document and use the “unsafe” microsoft/apple/google processor…and also double the cost

Als ik de app aantik dan start hij niet. Pas als ik heb weer volledig afsluit en wegswipe en daarna weer aantik start hij pas goed op. Het lijkt alsof hij steeds bij de eerste keer vastloopt. Ik heb alles up to date en toch blijft dit een vervelend probleem. Als de app wel werkt is alles prima in orde.

The client version for iPhone is Poor and obviously meant to keep poor to push more online emailing. The whole thing is an outlook alike version and you cannot search in body within your own spot. Thread has improved but communication on actions /reporting is poor. In layout  the structure is still 2 dimensional. Tending to 1 dimensional, suppressing the bio logic of a human. Oversight is therefore difficult, instead of easy. Short order s are not shown. 
Trashed msgs stay in list, without clear discrimination in visibilty. It makes think that ms ' idea of AI is pushed without healthy reason.

I use all your apps by unlimited suscription. A lot of experts suggested me your proton mail, drive, pass and overall your proton vpn.
I can get from each app, an activity register, but I am not an expert to understand sometimes those registers.
You are trying to protect the privacity of all users in each app, I am thankful for that. But... when will I be able see in each app, which devices are registered o which devices are using any proton app using my email address? Maybe for an expert is easy to know if anyone has hacked him, or anyone is trying to track any personal data, but I am not an expert.
Two years ago I was hacked through "joojle" ;) but at least, when I was checking the devices connected at that moment to my account, I could see something wrong was going on.
Please, I would like in any app, a register of my devices and accounts, without any web version where I can revocate any session. I want to do the same in all IOS proton apps.

- Als ik een bericht verwijder dan komt het volgende bericht; dat werkt. Maar als ik swipe naar het volgende bericht dan loopt de app vast. Ik krijg dan maar een gedeelte van het volgende bericht te zien.
- Als er (een) bericht(en) is/zijn gelezen op de iPhone dan is dat niet meteen te zien in een andere app op de iPad bv. Pas veel later.
- Na 6 maal swipen naar links kan ik niet verder swipen, alleen naar het beginscherm. Nu moet ik weer de app opnieuw opstarten.
- Soms gebeurt het dat na 1 bericht te hebben geopend en geswiped naar links, dat van het volgende bericht alleen de titel is te lezen maar niet de rest. Ik kan wel swipen maar alleen de titel is te zien.

Deletion from notifications doesn't work anymore: I swipe the push notification, press delete, but the email is still in inbox, so I have to delete it again.

Update: I tried to clean the cache and even re-installed the app, the problem still persists. Emails being deleted via push notification both on phone and watch don't get deleted until I open the app and delete them from there.

About a year ago i started to care more about my internet privacy (you all should do the same)
First step: Go away (far away) from Google.
Second step: Use better software, browsers, mail and VPN.
Step three: Care about your Password management.
That’s where Proton comes in (except for the Browser) but i use Brave Browser by the way.

The proton services are like heaven on earth (find out yourself)

Of course there are some things that need improvement , but that’s fine.

For the Proton mail app.

* More view style option, text size, mail preview options etc.
* Schedule mails.
* Better search options, I want to search for a specific date: Example all mails from December 7 2023 (A selectable calendar would be perfect)
* Mail grouping, example all mail from John Do.
* Mail sorting, on size, old-new, new-old, with or without attachments etc.
