Proton VPN: Fast & Secure

What’s the point of having a vpn when you can’t access certain web sites (ex for shopping) or app ( ex for medical) if I’m using a vpn? Sometimes it’s great but it seems irrelevant if you have to keep turning it off.

Great app / VPN with some minor UX issues… With the latest iOS no widget exists anymore which is inconvenient. Also no way on quick connect to select a particular state in the US, as the US internet laws become fractured ideally can pick to stay in California as an example on quick connect.

В России не работает, пробовал все сервера и протоколы, на каких-то еще подключается, но во включенном состоянии не проходит сам интернет, как будто выключается. Поэтому толку нет.

Proton VPN messed up carplay. 2 reboots corrects it every time. Nissan updated everything they could. I updated iOS. No change. I uninstalled Proton and carplay works again. Update: developer asked something about a kill switch. I appreciate the interaction but I don’t know. This isn’t my field. I didn’t even think my problem was related to the VPN app. I spent an entire day at Nissan and was shaking because I missed lunch. I hope you make setup more straightforward for your users, but I’m not among them. As stated in original review I uninstalled this app and things got better. I’ve already paid for 2 years of a competitor’s VPN.

This is the undoubtedly the best free VPN you can find on the AppStore and I imagine it’s even better with paid options. Unlike a lot of other VPNs it even has a desktop version that’s just as good. I’ve used it for a while and haven’t had any major issues with it. Most other VPNs I’ve tried also slow your internet speed considerably but I’ve never had this issue even when connecting to far away servers. I live in the U.S. and have connected to Japan servers a few times and even then my internet speed is still fast enough to be functional. There is however a minor but really annoying issue I’ve encountered a few times. Sometimes when you change servers it will disconnect and then reconnect you to the same server in the same location. This is usually followed by a 20 minute wait timer. I understand that this wait timer isn’t in the premium version and that you can even pick locations with premium but regardless I feel like the change server button should always change servers. Lot of countries and some states have laws that restrict what users can access so you can see how this can be problematic when the change server button reconnects you to the same server in the same location. Other than this minor issue it’s a great VPN and I highly recommend it to anyone who is searching for a free VPN because it’s certainly the best one out there.

As a user living in China, VPNs are essential for my daily life, especially for accessing platforms like X. While Proton VPN excels in privacy protection and a strict no-logs policy, recent changes to the free version have been disappointing. Firstly, free users can no longer choose their preferred server, which is a major setback for those of us who rely on stable and specific connections. Randomly assigned servers often lead to instability and fail to meet individual needs. Secondly, features like Profiles, the VPN Accelerator, and split tunneling are now locked behind the paywall. This is frustrating, especially since these features were previously available to free users and made the service much more practical. I understand the need to differentiate free and paid services, but over-restricting the free version could drive users away. I hope Proton VPN reconsiders these limitations, offering more flexibility in server selection and retaining essential features like Profiles, VPN Accelerator,split tunnel for free users. Please read it and improve it,please!
