I was interested in finding out which plants may be suitable for my garden so tried to use the plant search function. This literally has only 3 criteria - plant type, soil type and sunlight level. I completed this as herbaceous perennial, clay and partial sun - I got over 11,000 results and no means of further narrowing this down. How is that supposed to be helpful? I wanted to specify flower colour, flowering season, evergreen, size etc.
The advice was really helpful to bring one of our plants back to good health instead of dying off
As a Life Member I can’t find the words to adequately express how disappointed I am to find that you are looking for yet another payment to make this app fully functional to me. The membership price is no small amount as I’m sure you know and I am left feeling annoyed and upset that the full working app isn’t included. The other features can be found in many other apps making this one superfluous to me as it stands now. I think my dissatisfaction is well reflected in these reviews which is a great shame for the RHS.
I like many others am disgusted and disappointed that the RHS tout this as free, but to access the content you have to pay another subscription. I’m already a member, and can’t afford this on top of that subscription as well. You seem to forget that it’s the membership that help to keep the RHS going, your tickets prices for the big shows have also become unaffordable for most paid members too. Please don’t say about the other stuff, this was part of our membership too, what else will you be removing!
Another app with great free content decides to go to subscription and at £4/ month it isn’t worth it. It isn’t good enough for nearly 50 quid a year with too many plants missing from the app that are listed on their website. Deleted.
Yet another app that wastes your time creating a password, etc., only to then hit you with the necessary subscription. The choice should be immediate. So I equally decided to waste time giving two stars. Sorry. Frustrating.
I have life membership that was a considerable cost but I feel strongly that all generations should have access to gardening. Imagine my surprise having downloaded this app I am being asked for further payment? RHS gardens are a joy to visit but the minimum travel time is two hours. I have given up going to the shows, far too crowded and never any seating save the ground
Was excited to build a plant library of my veggie patch. Sadly I discovered my particular courgette (Black Beauty) was not listed. Strangely enough it is listed on the RHS ‘plant’ website and provides valuable advice. Shame really, because I quite like the idea of building the garden on the app.
The opening screen is impressive and I guess that’s what they put the resource into. The app is of very little use to me without paying the subscription and at £4 a month, that’s too expensive for something that I’d use only occasionally. The 2 plants I tried to get information on were not known. I used both the formal and common names of fairly common plants and they were not recognised. That is enough to put me off paying for a subscription even if I thought it was a reasonable price. My conclusion is that it is all front with no substance.
As an RHS member I was keen to try this so went ahead and downloaded this App, but to get any benefit - even to use the plant identifier - you have to subscribe and, upon further research with other apps you don’t! Removed as a waste of time!
