## RHS Grow Description
Welcome to RHS Grow, the official app of the Royal Horticultural Society. Featured on ITV's This Morning as one of the top 5 must-have apps, RHS Grow helps users identify plants, receive tips and advice on how to care for them and most importantly, help them to grow in the healthiest way possible.

The app offers easy-to-use access to 200 years of knowledge from RHS specialist advisors, botanists and scientists through to fruit and veg experts - all tasked with helping users grow plants with confidence all year round.  

ADVANCE SEARCH
Search the RHS database by plant name and filter by attributes to find plant details on 35,000+ plants.  Discover plants through filters like type, their habits, foliage and hardiness or search for plants according to whether they’re pollinators, native to the UK, fragrant or Garden Merit Awarded.  

INTRODUCING GARDEN PLANNER 
Create the garden to suit with our brand new Garden Planner tool. Simply complete a short questionnaire then receive tailored plant recommendations curated by RHS experts to suit you and your garden.

I was interested in finding out which plants may be suitable for my garden so tried to use the plant search function. This literally has only 3 criteria - plant type, soil type and sunlight level. I completed this as herbaceous perennial, clay and partial sun - I got over 11,000 results and no means of further narrowing this down. How is that supposed to be helpful? I wanted to specify flower colour, flowering season, evergreen, size etc.

As a Life Member I can’t find the words to adequately express how disappointed I am to find that you are looking for yet another payment to make this app fully functional to me. The membership price is no small amount as I’m sure you know and I am left feeling annoyed and upset that the full working app isn’t included. The other features can be found in many other apps making this one superfluous to me as it stands now. I think my dissatisfaction is well reflected in these reviews which is a great shame for the RHS.

I like many others am disgusted and disappointed that the RHS tout this as free, but to access the content you have to pay another subscription. I’m already a member, and can’t afford this on top of that subscription as well. You seem to forget that it’s the membership that help to keep the RHS going, your tickets prices for the big shows have also become unaffordable for most paid members too.

Please don’t say about the other stuff, this was part of our membership too, what else will you be removing!

Another app with great free content decides to go to subscription and at £4/ month it isn’t worth it. It isn’t good enough for nearly 50 quid a year with too many plants missing from the app that are listed on their website. Deleted.

The choice should be immediate. So I equally decided to waste time giving two stars.

I have life membership that was a considerable cost but I feel strongly that all generations should have access to gardening.  Imagine my surprise having downloaded this app I am being asked for further payment?  RHS gardens are a joy to visit but the minimum travel time is two hours.  I have given up going to the shows, far too crowded and never any seating save the ground

Was excited to build a plant library of my veggie patch. Sadly I discovered my particular courgette (Black Beauty) was not listed. Strangely enough it is listed on the RHS ‘plant’ website and provides valuable advice. Shame really, because I quite like the idea of building the garden on the app.

The opening screen is impressive and I guess that’s what they put the resource into. 
The app is of very little use to me without paying the subscription and at £4 a month, that’s too expensive for something that I’d use only occasionally. 
The 2 plants I tried to get information on were not known. I used both the formal and common names of fairly common plants and they were not recognised.  That is enough to put me off paying for a subscription even if I thought it was a reasonable price. 
My conclusion is that it is all front with no substance.

Given the RHS has such a fantastic database of information, this app is a little disappointing. 
Firstly, it’s too slow to load, if it even does, crashing regularly. Too many features for the sake of them, but it doesn’t feel like they have been tested by gardeners, whilst gardening.

I am a new gardener and was told this app would help so I subscribed . I find it frustrating as the plants in the garden I’ve inherited are not in the data base , it’s not an exotic garden . I’m not sure what I’m paying for really as I often have to use You Tube to get an answer .

This app has been totally inoperable for several days now. Whenever I try to open it, it just loads and loads forever and never actually starts up. 

I’ve tried restarting my phone, I’ve tried updating the app, same issue. 

Not exactly acceptable for an app that requires payment and is NOT CHEAP.

Also no option to set up without allowing notifications. Deleted it part way though set up - I’m a member but I’m not sure what they’re up to with this - looks rather like a revenue generator to me.

Also their website infringes data laws - it is not as easy to reject cookies as to accept them and it keeps asking over & over again.

This is a con!  There is no free trial of the features locked behind the subscription. When you have paid and get to try them you find they are pretty useless. You can’t add from your photo library to the journal. The care tips don’t relate to your plants, fo example your plant Rosemary brings up care of roses. Search does not find common garden plants. Discovery covers very few plants. AI chat is just general replies. Don’t bother. Other apps offer much more and don’t crash all the time.

RHS membership page states this app is included in the membership fee. It is not. Membership page also states free entry to partner gardens which is generally not true. Couldn’t find a single free entry garden round my way. You would expect more honesty from an organisation like this. Can’t comment on the functionality of the app as no way I will pay for this and RHS membership has been cancelled.
