All text sections in Scrivener are fully integrated with its outlining tools, so working with an overview of your manuscript is only ever a tap away, and turning Chapter Four into Chapter One is as simple as drag and drop.

Need to refer to research? In Scrivener, your background material is always at hand. Write a description based on a photograph. Reference a video or PDF. Check for consistency with an earlier chapter. On the iPad, open two documents side-by-side; on the iPhone, flip between research and writing with just two taps.

Once you’re ready to share your work with the world, simply compile everything into a single document for printing, or export to popular formats such as Word, PDF, Final Draft or plain text. You can even share using different formatting, so that you can write in your favorite font and still keep your editor happy.

It’s understandable to be frustrated with Scrivener’s lack of iCloud support, especially when it impacts how you manage your files. The decision to rely on Dropbox might stem from integration and functionality reasons rather than purely monetary ones, but it does feel limiting for users.

It would definitely be beneficial for Scrivener to implement more frequent updates, especially to include features like Swedish word suggestions. Many users would likely appreciate improvements that enhance usability.

I love the Scrivener desktop app, but the iOS version is of limited use so long as it’s only possible to access files through Dropbox. 

There are reasons why only Dropbox works with Scrivener (do yourself a favour and avoid the cantankerous support community thread on this topic), but in my experience using it *always* creates synch conflicts, and recent usage has wiped text from about half the Scrivener docs in a project! Luckily I had a back-up, but am having to copy them across one-by-one from the “damaged” Scrivener file to the backup. 

Too expensive an iOS app while Dropbox is the only synching alternative. Let’s hope future changes to the iOS Files system make it possible to one day drop Dropbox…
