I almost stop reading news on an app after renew, extremely unorganized content

Essential Source

I find SCMP most informative and an up to date source of information for Asia. Its articles are timely, to the point, drawing attention to hitherto unknown facts. No serious student of regional politics and economics can afford to miss this essential source of information.

Login problem

I am asked to put in my user name and password every time I read news. It’s driving me crazy.

Please add dark mode

SCMP has been my trusted source for all news related to China. The digital version delivers the same quality of journalism over the years, and I enjoy it. One thing I greatly appreciate is to add the dark mode support of the app. This fix will make the app more eye-friendly and easier to use in late night.

Subscription Disappeared

I bought a subscription last month when they had a big sale. It did work shortly thereafter. I just went to read an article & it will not open. So I try ‘restore purchase’ & it says nothing found under my Apple ID. I did not think it was even done through the App Store but through a link on their page. So I went to look for the screenshot of my receipt. On inspection there is a long weird email shown which I did not put in. I did not notice it on the confirmation page. So now I do not have any access, & I am worried about where that payment went. I will have to follow up with my bank. Beware.

Hanging!

After the recent update, App is not refreshing in certain sections and hangs frequently. Totally not useable!

While US news is focused on politics and ideological battles this is where one can come to see what’s really important in US-China competition and cooperation in both the military and industrial realms.

Can’t use the app, blue block on screen

There is a big blue block on the first page opening the app. Can’t use the app.

Good news service but poor app function

I enjoy SCMC’s coverage. However, at HK$83/month, I shouldn’t be forced to watch advertisement pop-ups with countdown clocks. These pop-up ads in the app really degrade the experience and cheapen the SCMP brand. Additionally, when clicking through to an SCMP article from another website like Facebook, there’s no “Open in App” button, so it’s difficult to get past the pay wall despite being a paid subscriber. Edit: another unavoidable pop-up today with no desirable option – either “add this section to the top menu” or “remind me next week”. I can’t just read the article without choosing one. Why???
