Effective but could be improved
I picked up this app over clearspace because I wanted an app that could effectively track pushups/situps while holding me accountable for my screentime. This app could do that, while clearspace couldnt. When I was trying clearspace, the clunky motion tracker made it difficult to find the right place to do my pushups and unlock the app (because sometimes it didnt count pushups if my device was too close) With this app, it tracks motion fairly simply. Put the device on the ground, have a camera pointed at your face and the app will track how many times your face goes up and down. Really simple. The problem is I tried picking up my device and pushing and pulling it away from my face to give off a similar effect and the app counted those as pushups too. One suggestion I have is to have a motion tracker make sure the device isnt being moved while doing pushups to make sure you arent cheating the system like I tried to. The squat feature is equally simple though more buggy in my opinion. You have to hold the device in your hand like you normally would and do the squats. No camera required. The problem with this was you have to hold the device a certain way. I like to have my hands in front of me when I squat and the app didnt count those squats. The app did find tracking when I put my arms to the side but again there is a way to “cheat” the system. If you raise and lower your hand like you are lifting up a suitcase, the app will track that motion as a squat. In this case, I would say a camera tracking some part of your motion may help keep people accountable. Other than these complaints, I think this app has some potential (especially when comparing the price to clearspace) _—————————- Originally I gave a 4 but now Im giving it a 2 because now even when I do the exercises properly the app still keeps saying I need to do more. Like I set it to block youtube until I do 20 squats. I do the squats legitimately and the app gives me the streamers congratulating me for the work out. I go to Youtube the block screen is still there, it disappears for a little bit then it reappears within minutes. I set the Youtube block for 20 minutes for 20 squats. Why is it still blocking? I put 40 squats into the app afterwards and it still doesnt unblock Youtube. Holding my apps hostage isnt going to help reduce screentime 🙄
