Tap Metronome is a simple metronome for those who want quick access to a reliable metronome.
Features:
- Three ways to choose tempo: tap the speed you want, select from the picker list or type the number (access by tapping on the white tempo on the iPhone).
- Loud beeps: Volume as loud as possible to be audible above music. Visible volume control so you can increase it further.
- Choose the number of beats in the bar (from 1 to 7).
- Visible beat indicator.
- Rotate the view for a Landscape version, so you can put the device on a music stand without covering the speaker.
- Accurate: many of the free metronomes in the App Store are not accurate because they are based on old sample code, and over a number of seconds they get a beat out. This metronome is one of the few which is accurate for hours.
- Add the Metronome as a Today View extension (drag down from the top of the screen).
- On Apple Watch: a simple independent metronome which quietly taps you on the beat. In addition, a Glance, and multiple Complications, allow you to see your current tempo and quickly access the metronome app through them.
- Use 3D Touch Quick Actions to start the metronome at multiple tempos directly from the Home Screen icon.
This app makes sounds even when your device is on silent, so that you can use it in situations where you want other phone functions silenced. To quickly mute the metronome, press the mute icon.
Look out for Tap Metronome Plus, which is ad-free, provides many more sounds, and has a screen flash function.

Good & reliable
I use this metronome when teaching CPR as part of first-aid training. It has a simple no-fuss interface which allows easy setting of the tempo, it can be made loud enough for a medium-sized class to hear and has other functions such as tapping a tempo so students can discover (with eyes closed) how accurately they are in producing the correct tempo to what they thought they might be doing. For me this is a great App which does everything I need with no fuss.
Completely broken with iOS 7- update please!
This app needs an update- iOS 7 has broke the choice of tempo spinner (a very important feature). Disappointed- please update!

I must say I was going to scald this app as I downloaded it three times on 3GS and every time I opened it, it crashed and took me straight back to the home screen. I have now downloaded it to my iPhone 4 and it works a treat. I just needed a single beat metronome and so many come with a minimum two beats.

Probably the best app in the world.
So simple yet so good.
v1.0.2 on an iPad does what its author says: it is a simple, relaible metronome. In use, I thought at first that the scroll wheel speed adjuster was an unnecessary duplication of what the keypad does but in use it is a great way to adjust an already beeping tempo. Tapping out a tempo only requires two taps. Future improvements: Everything works fine but given the choice I would opt for larger dots - the visual metronome and perhaps inverse them so that the dots are darker and light up when beating rather than white and going darker when beating.
Great but.......
I wish it would override the auto lock on iPhone. When I use it, the lock kicks in and stops the Metronome, so i have to turn off auto lock before i use the app if I want a good practise session.. Fix that and I'll love you long time. Also, some less nerpy noise would be nice, more of a woody click.

This app was very helpful, thanks! Just wish it could do 6 beats. Other than that, it's an AMAZING app! Can't wait 'till you make another!
