The Tesla app puts owners in direct communication with their vehicles and energy products anytime, anywhere. With this app, you can:

– Check charging progress in real time and start or stop charging
– Heat or cool your car before driving – even if it's in a garage
– Lock or unlock from afar
– Locate your vehicle with directions or track its movement
– Send an address from your favourite apps to start navigation in your car
– Allow your passengers to quickly control media
– Flash lights or beep the horn to find your vehicle when parked
– Vent or close the panoramic roof
– Summon your vehicle out of your garage or a tight parking space (for vehicles with Autopilot)
– Update your vehicle software from wherever you are
– Engage with Powerwall: monitor how much energy is stored from solar, used by your home or exported to the grid
– Download your solar production and battery usage data

The app is an essential part of your Tesla ownership experience. The integration is flawless and works most of the time. I say most as I’ve had some instances where I had to re-pair my phone a few times in the past 6 months. Though the Tesla app has all essential functionality, I still feel obligated to subscribe to third party apps like Tessie all the time. The charge insights in the app is just basic. There is no information about the drives or charge sessions. No battery health and related insights like in the Tessie app. I’d like to get an idea of how the vehicle is performing in different weather conditions or seasons and there’s no way to track it with the official app. If Tesla can enhance their app with these crucial features, I have no doubt it’ll be one of the best car ownership experiences…

The app is an essential part of the Tesla ownership experience. Generally flawless and properly integrated with the vehicle, you can control nearly all essential aspects of the vehicle. 

Latest version with scheduled charging and re vamped design is excellent. 

The only thing missing is the ability to close all windows and doors with the app. You can open most things, so why you can’t close them again is weird. 

You get a notification to say you have left something open but can then do nothing about it remotely. 

Other than this ( v minor) niggle, a great app.
