Textastic is a comprehensive and versatile text and code editor for iPad and iPhone. It supports syntax highlighting for more than 80 programming and markup languages. Connect to SFTP, FTP, and WebDAV servers or to your Dropbox account. Use the built-in SSH terminal to work directly on your server.

I have used this app since 2011, I have known friends for shorter periods, I have worked in places in less time. This app does it all, clean, clear, code and terminal use. I use it constantly and the constant development of this app is what makes it stand out from all the other iOS test apps.

Having tried many of the text editors for iOS and looking for the BBEdit of iOS I thought I just wasn’t going to get there.
Then I stumbled on Textastic and it’s fantastic. Does everything i need and much more I’ll probably never need. 
Recently I was sent a file which everything else declared as being unopenable but Textastic just fired it up like it was a regular txt file.

Good selection of customisations and all the useful things like copy/paste between iOS and MacOS just work. It’s a really versatile  and useful tool.

I have various apps, that work on python, LaTeX etc, which can give code completion for that language, I wonder if there some way of getting language aware code completion in Textastic.

Plenty of features, it’s a almost exactly the text editor I wanted, but when I paste a few lines of text and click and drag upwards with the trackpad (Magic Keyboard) to select parts to delete, it hard crashes every single time. The app window becomes unresponsive and after about 20 seconds the app just vanishes and kicks me back to the home screen. I can’t really trust it at the moment, as well as being annoying this could result in lost work.

I use this awesome app to typeset LaTex documents only, but I love it more than any of the other apps I currently use. I have got only two feature requests at the moment:
(1) include a feature that will compile LaTex documents and output in PDF; and 
(2) include LaTex symbols (statistical and mathematical).
