Where is search an article functionality????

Adequate experience; chronic login issues

While the app hasn’t received any notable updates in years, the general experience, while basic, is adequate: well-designed reading experience, functional search and access to most section content. Areas for improvement: Ads are more prominent and disruptive than competitors and of low quality (with an apparent infinite amount to display as article length increases); the home tab feels stale and outdated (and editor’s picks are often pushed out by an ad); articles saved on web may appear in Saved but not the other way around; no support for dark mode; other media types such as podcasts and newsletters are buried in the section list; no offline content or automatic downloads. The biggest issue is authentication. The app seems incapable of storing login credentials for more than a day, so anytime I open the app to read an article, I have to log in again. This isn’t a complaint about the app and website synchronizing my login, or any nuances of Safari web views — this is a fundamental issue with the app. As such it puts me off from ever seriously using the app. The website is the only viable alternative (apart from print) for subscribers, but with the website focusing on daily content the app is missing a trick to provide a curated and focused content experience.

App not fit for purpose

I have to find the interesting articles from Apple News that I want to read in the Atlantic. I cannot seem to find what I want through this app.

Way too many large ads for serious reading. But gets the essential reading done.

I pay for the digital subscription, yet there are ads between the pages of each article. It's acceptable but disappointing. The app will certainly not be where I primarily read The Atlantic for this reason.

Minor complaint

Text of articles is too close to the left side of my iPad screen, almost off the edge, making it a bit hard to read. Also, Cannot find a way to increase text size.

No search function?

Absolutely bizarre decision not to have a search function.

Great content, poor app design

Great content but the app is poor and I have no doubt it is costing the publication. The main issue is that the app doesn’t have a front page that gives you a sense of what is going on in the world. I subsequently visit the app quite rarely; in fact, I forget about it for weeks on end, even though I like the content when I visit. I have spoken to a number of friends who say the exact same thing - they like the Atlantic but rarely visit the app. Needs to be fixed.

Great but...

Please include a search function! Marvellous writing and features but a bit of a faff to search for favourite writers.

Great journalism, awful app

I love the Atlantic and its journalism. But the app is awful, lots of focus on form over content (the very opposite of what the Atlantic is about), leaving you to scroll down multiple screens of white space and oversize graphics before getting to the articles. Please focus on making the app live up to the quality of the Atlantic, on quickly accessible content and good overviews of what’s available. I find myself using the website more and more given the poor app design, presumably the very opposite of what the app aims to achieve

Amazing app other than no search function

I love the depth and breadth of the content, but please make a search function? If it’s there already please make it more accessible. So frustrating having to use safari to search Atlantic articles
