MIDI, OSC and more...

TouchOSC supports sending and receiving any number of MIDI and OSC messages on many connections simultaneously. On top of OSC over UDP & TCP, we support every type of wired & wireless MIDI connection your device can offer, including MIDI over USB.

Cross-Network. Synchronized editing.

Multiple instances of TouchOSC can be connected on the network for synchronized editing. Use the precision of your desktop's mouse and keyboard for fine-grained, detailed editing - test-drive and preview in real-time on all connected touch-screen devices at the same time.

Scripting and local messages.

A lightweight and fast scripting engine allows deep access to all aspects of your controller and enables limitless customization and interactivity. For less complex tasks we've added local messages - simply wire up controls to transmit or display values; no need to break out the big (code) guns. Easy.

This is only the beginning...

We've supported and updated TouchOSC Mk1 for more than 10 years and we're planning to do the same for this new version. We've already got a whole bunch of features cooking that were just not quite ready yet. There is so much more to come...

### ***** "Reliable toolset for many years"
A decade later and I still use TouchOSC for building out interfaces to control generative graphics systems. First with Apple’s much-missed Quartz Composer, now Unity and Vuo. Everything from app prototyping to running live event graphics.

TouchOSC definitely has more power than I make use of, but I do depend on the more advanced customisation of Lua scripting to build out items like multi-coloured radio button sets out of individual buttons. Super helpful for making interfaces more foolproof and readable.

I think my main request is for more scripting documentation and examples, especially targeted for beginners. The current documentation is a little sparse and difficult to figure out, especially for non-programmers interested in an easier system to use when creating procedural experiences. The supported feature set appears to be a subset of Lua, and not everything you’ll find for Lua training online will be applicable.

I really appreciate the developers continuing to support this tool for so long, and I really hope support continues! It’s invaluable for quickly prototyping and creating OSC interfaces.

I purchased a few weeks ago, and there’s a learning curve, not terrible but you have to learn what you are controlling and how. Since, I’ve built myself a DAW composing WS, hands on control, macros, workflow enhancements. Highly recommend.

### ***** "Completely changed my workflow!"
The potential for this software can make one’s head spin, but it has become an irreplaceable part of my process for everything from Adobe to Ableton, to simple admin stuff.

The interface itself is a bit clunky, but easy to get used to once you understand it. I wish I could do more batch-level updates on different settings, like changing the size of buttons or adjusting midi settings, but hey! It’s still incredible.

There’s a lot of freedom in the way you can set up your layouts. If you know Lua, you can add even more functionality and control. On top of this, their support team regularly pushes out updates, implementing user requests where it makes sense. I use TouchOSC every day. My layout is largely geared toward composing, but I use it to create buttons that trigger shortcuts and run macros in many other apps, too.

### ***** "Fantastic tool. Missing a VST/AU plug-in to be perfect"
I’ve been using mk1 for 10+ years. I’ve purchased mk2 doubtful I will use the LUA editor. The editor is the greatest feature of the tool IMHO. There are so many online ressources to help you learn LUA (I am not a developer). The LUA Editor has helped me built some unique (and impossible to do before) synthetizer templates.
I only wish Hexler will bring a VST / AU DAW plug-in soon (a-la ctrlr) and this toll will be perfect.

### ****- "Works, But… MIDI IO might be required"
I can’t bust the devs for iOS idiosyncrasies, and the app is, as others have mentioned, almost there. But… I struggled for a couple of afternoons with a 2021 iPad and Windows 11. For whatever reason, usb wired or wireless the app would work, and suddenly stop transmitting. I never got the mirror editing from desktop to work. Which doesn’t matter and the desktop nag screen is a pain. I got fed up, plugged a MIO MIDI interface into the iPad and into the DAW of choice, not a single glitch.
So if you’re cussing this app on iPad or phone, or playing a real gig where wireless and BT aren’t options and wired maybe works for you, maybe doesn’t, pick up a cheap used iOS MIDI interface.

This app saves me huge amounts of time creating custom user interfaces on iOS devices. You can connect the app on the iOS device to the app on your computer and see/ test your interface in real time while you’re making it. This feature makes it painless to tweak your interface to perfection. It’s very stable and dependable, a must for any software I’d consider using in live production. I highly recommend this app to anyone that needs custom MIDI/ osc interfaces.

“I’m a rockstar musician, not a rockstar developer!”  Feeling low-key misled that the layouts wouldn’t require a IT degree to design. A waste of money I could spend on other music and MIDI apps and a waste of time that could be used to make, hello, actual music. Pay attention to your rating ratio. Only the super smart spectrumy nerds are happy. Lots of one stars. Dumb it down for us non-rainman types please.

I cannot conceive of not having TouchOSC. 

It is completely indispensable to my workflow now. 

Key switches, automatically naming mixes and stems, transport controls, DAW commands, faders and pan, and on and on. 

All reconfigurable at the touch of a hat. 

And the new version takes it light years further. 

I would rate it 10 out of 10.

I was having some issues with connecting to Onyx, so I reached out to support to see if they could help.

The level of support I received was unparalleled by ANY company I’ve worked with in the past. They didn’t just tell me why I was doing wrong, they provided an in-depth explanation as well as several possible things I was doing wrong and how I can fix them.
