Vinegar is a Safari extension that replaces the YouTube player with a minimal HTML video tag.
It removes ads, restores picture-in-picture, and allows videos to play in the background when set to audio-only quality.
Note: The phrase 'can read and alter webpages' in the permissions section is just an unfortunate choice of words. Vinegar needs access to the webpage to find the YouTube player and replace it. It's not doing anything creepy!
(Also, do check out Vinegar's companion app, Baking Soda. It's essentially a less powerful version of Vinegar, but it works on all websites except YouTube.)

It’s kinda working

It works… it doesn’t block ads for me but it change the player and that’s good enough

Amazing app

Works great but there could be more work done on AirPlay and Apple TV compatibility. Keep up the good work 👍

Глючное расширение для сафари.

Тел при фоновом воспроизведении греется и сажает батарею. Скроллинг не работает. Видео иногда не запускается , приходится перезагружать страницу.

Perfect!

It works great on all Apple platforms, has all iOS / macOS features (all of which Google hid behind a paywall). Worth every penny! 🥰 I've tried YouTube Premium and this works much better. If only it could work on Apple TV.

It does not play in background

When i exit safari the music stops.

I absolutely love this safari extension. I was using a free one before and it was quite buggy sometimes, but yours works perfectly for what I need it to do. The best thing about it is that there is no subscription fee, feels like the old times of App store. :)

It doesnt work properly

It doesnt work properly, playing music from youtube on background falls and commercials are not blocked anytime and automatic playing next videos works sometime. Are you serious? App doesnt properly what youtube premium normaly does at all!!
