## Vinegar Description
Vinegar is a Safari extension that replaces the YouTube player with a minimal HTML video tag.

It removes ads, restores picture-in-picture, and allows videos to play in the background when set to audio-only quality.

Note: The phrase 'can read and alter webpages' in the permissions section is just an unfortunate choice of words. Vinegar needs access to the webpage to find the YouTube player and replace it. It's not doing anything creepy!

(Also, do check out Vinegar's companion app, Baking Soda. It's essentially a less powerful version of Vinegar, but it works on all websites except YouTube.)

Great. However, it stopped working altogether in ios 17.1 on an iphone. The controls don’t appear and ads keep appearing. Turning off the extension and on again fixes the issue

Unfortunately i cannot used it Any more. From some time when you are scrolling for videos. The video that is in front will start autoplay above the page and you cannot stop or Close it.

### ***-- "Good but buggy"
While the idea is great, in practice I’ve seen quite a few problems that stop me from using it often, not sure how many of them are related to iOS/iPadOS, Safari or the app itself but I’ll list them below in the hopes that they might be addressed:

- Noticed slow down while watching YouTube in picture-in-picture with this extension but the same slowdown is not present if using the app with the premium subscription or Twitch in pip
- Videos stop after 1 hour, not sure why but about one hour after watching a video it crashes 
- For live stream it doesn’t show live, it seems to take the current length of the live stream as the max and them set the current as (max - 1 hour). Example: live stream up for 5:30 hours, when I open the stream the current time is shown as 4:30 and max shows up as -1:00
- An email address where suggestions could be sent would be welcomed :)

- iPad Pro 2018 11’, these reproduce on various iOS version, this review was written on iPadOS 16.2
- The vast majority of time I watch live streams on YouTube so maybe this case hasn’t been tested

### ****- "Good extension but can be better"
The extension is great, since it lets you skip by double pressing and the picture in picture works as well. However, I think there are few points that are a bit annoying:
1. Playback speed resets to 1x when changing the video
2. You can’t browse for new videos except for the related ones without stopping the video which is currently playing
