I am using it on an iPad Pro to control VLC on Win10. After configuring the firewall correctly,  which is easy if you know what you are doing (and if you don't know, just unblock VLC completely)... it controls the most essential bits of VLC. 2 points of criticism; the equaliser does not always work, unless you switch it off and on again a couple of times, and sometimes the installation "breaks", which just requires a quick re-install of the host VLC remote helper programme... this always works, unless your firewall configuration needs to be updated too.
