I see a lot of reviews with one or two stars complaining about money… and that’s kinda sad. The game is amazing and really fun and it’s a casual ideal game I can play when I want to without always having to be on, which is great with how busy I am. While I wish epic and legendary pets would be easier to get, I find the story and game overall to be really fun, and evolves the world of Voidpet in a very unique way. 9/10!!!! Would definitely play it! -- The Magnifisent Papyrus!, 2024-12-24 ### **--- "Could be better" Voidpet Dungeon has its bright spots. The variety of Voidpets and the different types you can collect are great, and the ascensions feel rewarding. But beyond that, it’s a bit of a slog. The dungeon gameplay gets repetitive fast. It feels empty too; there’s no sound for attacks, which makes combat feel hollow. The story had potential with its diverse cast of characters, but the dialogue is so cringey I gave up on it after a while. That’s disappointing because I actually wanted to like the characters. But the biggest issue? The relentless push to get you to pay. Battle pass, paid events, paid growth paths; almost everything has a price tag. And it’s not cheap. This is coming from someone who has spent a good amount of money on this game. I recently hit a wall. My Voidpets are maxed out in level, but their battle power is still too low to keep progressing. The only way to ascend them further is to get tier 3 stones, which I can’t access unless I somehow beat the dungeon level I’m stuck on or, shocker inc, buy them from the cash shop. Here’s the thing: if I have to pay just to get past a wall, then the whole game loses its point. Progression is supposed to feel satisfying, not like I’m being cornered into spending money. If the devs are reading this: Please rethink the key timers and the way ascension stones are handled. Waiting on daily resets for 10 keys isn’t fun, it’s frustrating. Either reduce the key timer or give players a more accessible way to get the stones. And that’s not even touching on the gear system or the whole mushrooms/vivid mechanic, which is a whole other mess. Voidpet Dungeon could be great, but right now it feels like it's more interested in draining wallets than delivering a fun experience. -- ReadingRainbowBlower, 2024-12-21 ### **--- "It’s A Mobile Game" The game technically works. Was interesting up until the end of the tutorial phase. The monetization is fairly aggressive navigating around I found like 3 different premium options ranging from $15 to $20, a book, and smaller amounts When you see an auto battle mechanic in the game you know for sure the battles are going to be dry and dull. Battles boil down to rock paper scissors and the holy trinity (if you are not already crazy overpowered). The game is still new, free, and has no ads (from the time that I played). -- FireGamer3, 2024-12-17 ### ****- "Fun… only when you’re not stuck…" This game is very entertaining ngl, its fun giving your pets different builds to defeat enemies. The game first starts off pretty easy, but after floor 150 or so… you get stuck. You’ve already used up all of your training keys, you ran out of voidmatter to level your gear, and you cant get any higher because your level is capped until you get evolution stones. Whenever you reach this point, the only thing you can do either is swap the pets gear to hopefully get lucky, pay between $5-$40 to upgrade a singular pet, or sit on your rump and wait an entire day to get enough evolution stones. This is the only flaw that i’ve really found, i know this is just getting more people to pay but this is just petty… -- tangledknight, 2024-12-16 ### ***-- "I Love Voidpet & That's Why I Write This" I'm a long time enjoyer of Voidpet as a franchise/series/whatever. I have Giga. I've played all the games released for it so far. I've spent cash and I've had alt accounts and— Well, you know, the whole shebang. Even bought the digital version of Hands of Greed. And I have to be blatantly honest about Dungeon and its downsides. I am saying this out of true interest and love for this series, not because I'm angry or bitter towards it. - The cash shop is atrociously priced. For example, a few of us in the official Discord server did the math and in order to get the event pet (Higher Form Greed) through the pity system, it's $900USD. Yes, you read that right, you're guaranteed Higher Form Greed if you spend $900USD and anything before that is pure luck. You only get 5 free eggs from the event itself without spending cash — but you need 300 eggs to reach pity. Not even Genshin Impact is that hardcore with its pity. - This is an AFK battle game but you can easily get stuck in place for days on end. There's only one source of evolution stones and that's the loot box that fills up over time. At certain points, you don't even get enough stones within a day or two (or even more) to evolve your pets and proceed through floors. VERY slow progress. - The RNG on this game is out of whack in general, combined with the cash shop part of it. Sure, you can buy things to enhance your gameplay — eggs, mushrooms, gems, evo stones, etc — but it's not even worth it to do so. It's way more logical to just play it free and play the waiting game, instead of getting antsy and busting the bank. - The developers don't really listen to feedback most of the time. They can also be a tad tone deaf with how they write out characters and storylines. I want VP to thrive but it's like talking to a wall and it's so frustrating. I gave a 3-star because I've been doing really well in-game and it's kept me distracted from a tough time of the year, even though it has so many glaring issues. Micro transactions in this game are the most expensive I’ve EVER seen from a mobile game. The floors outlevel you by a lot unless you want to spend money to upgrade your pets, if you don’t then good luck waiting days upon days to progress. There’s like 10(?) different main bosses that keep relooping every 100 floors and the only thing that changes about them is their element. I always enjoyed combat in all of the games, the website and garden, so I’m a little more than happy when I saw they came out with a mode that’s purely combat. The pets make NO sense. Why is Glee, a “healer” that attacks??? “Passive, Gain increased atack (btw you spelled attack wrong) for 1 turns at the start of battle.” He’s not a healer, he’s just a basic fighter like all the other fighters. Sticking with Glee, “ Stone Surge, Attack an enemy. Reduce their attack for two turns.” BY HOW MUCH.?? You guys really need to pick if you want to use (1) or (one). Maybe get a spell checker. Also why can I not swipe when looking at stats? Why do I have to click on Anger, click stats, click exit, swipe, click spite, click stats swipe? $80.00 USD for fake eggs on a phone game is so out of touch with reality it’s amazing how far gone you are. -- Ridan56, 2024-11-29 ### *---- "Horrible progression" As much as I love Voidpet garden, this game is just awful. Because of its bad writing, constant cash grabs, and lack of fair progression. Firstly, the story is convoluted and awful. I was excited to get more lore about this universe, but 90% of the information you get from this game is either a theory from a character, or some random sentence with no context. I like the idea of having dialogue at the end of each battle, but please go get a writing class devs. And add a feature that lets you keep track of the dialogue, cause most of it is forgettable. Next is the cash grabs. One in the first week you play, which you get reminded for. The whole store is a pay to win that’s overpriced don’t remember exactly but about 10 dollars for a starter bundle that has basically no resources in it. And there is no free login option in the store either. Well now to gameplay, it’s ok. I’ve played better tactical games. But it’s playable and fun. Before about floor 80. When you can’t level up your pets cause they’re at their level cap. And you can’t fix it until floor 165!!!! And the enemies still will get stronger when you progress. This feels unfair for a cute game about emotions. If I wanted a hard game to play though, I’d be in goddamn fear and hunger. Devs please fix this of all things! I was so excited when it came out because I love Voidpet Garden and was hoping for an expansion of the universe it’s set in, but all I got was this money-hungry mess of a game. The progression is clunky, the story is now even more confusing than it was in Garden, and the combat is repetitive and frustrating. Why is the combat system in Voidpet Garden FAR superior to the combat system in this game, when the battles are what Dungeon is supposed to be based around? I just don’t understand. The pricing for progression is ridiculous. “Hands of Greed” is a little too on-the-nose. Listen, developers, I wanted to support this game because Garden has done so much for my mental health. But this game brings nothing new or interesting to the table and lacks features that make it either a feasible AFK game OR a fun dungeon crawling adventure. This game is still new and so I am holding on to the hope that the team behind Voidpet simply released this game too early, and that this is NOT the final vision. I will change my review accordingly if that’s the case. Until then, this game isn’t worth it even if you love Garden.
