## Watch Tuner Lite Description
Watch Tuner Lite measures the accuracy of mechanical and automatic watches. It uses the built-in microphone or headset microphone to record the audible tick of the watch and calculates the seconds-per-day deviation. Works with almost any 'ticking' watch/clock.

Use in a quiet environment. Any ambient noise can affect the accuracy of the results. Complete silence is best.

Recommended way to record the ticks is to touch the crown of the watch with the headset microphone. You will get the best results using original Apple EarPods.

This is a simple version of Watch Tuner application. Not everyone needs detailed information about a watch movement, sometimes only accuracy is important. Watch Tuner Lite uses very similar algorithm like Watch Tuner does but displays only seconds-per-day deviation.

If you want to know how much your watch is fast or slow, this application is for you.
If you prefer to measure also beat error and amplitude, try Watch Tuner - a bigger brother of this app.

Keep it in a quiet area and adjust the sensitivity and it’ll help you get the right time set. Intuitive and simple, set +- 2 seconds for my 1913 Elgin that I’m sure fluctuates more from temperature than this can fix.

I was able to get a reading when laying my watch face down on my iPhone near the built-in microphone (in the lower left corner). It didn’t work when laying the watch on its side—not loud enough. This did not allow me to measure my watch in different positions. 
I tried using my original AirPods, but that didn’t work at all. 
I finally pulled out the wired headphones that came with one of my iPhones. I held the microphone part against the back of the watch with a wire tie wrap. Masking tape should work even better. I set sensitivity = 2/3, noise cancellation = on, and measuring time = long. This produced stable results in most positions. These generally agreed with my seconds/day measurements for 24 hours, but of course is much faster!

I don’t normally leave reviews but this warrants one! I tracked my watch visually by atomic time clock but hated the eyeball variance and waiting lol … I didn’t want to shell out hundreds for a pro watch timegrapher, either.

I went out on a limb and paid the small fee for this and using Apple EarPods I never use this worked flawlessly!! Detected BPM, and it appears it validates my eyeball atomic method, but can be done in just a minute or two. Top work to the developer; this is one must have cool little app :-)

I tried this on a variety of watches. I tried watch crown to iPhone microphone. I tried wired iPod microphone. I turned sensitivity up and down. Noise cancelling on and off. 

I could not even get a remotely accurate measurement of beats per hour.  I get too much noise or no signal. 

Two days of fiddling. Also does not work even with the case back taken off of a noisy watch.

### ***** "Does exactly what you expect"
I was a little bit skeptical before I got it, but it turned out to work well. Of course, it is less accurate than a Timegrapher for $100+, but it gives you excellent results nevertheless.

The main hint is to put your watch and the mic into a box (preferably with thick walls), so it will catch far less noise than in an open environment (I used my Bose headphones case for that), and keep your phone outside the box to read the measurements.

### ***** "Great alternative to dedicated timegrapher"
While learning about how to regulate my mechanical watches, I game across this app.  Buying a dedicated timegrapher seemed impractical. I used it to regulate the 7s26 movement in my Seiko SKX013. At first it gave me some strange results, but after playing with the microphone sensitivity it was reporting roughly what I’d been observing. It worked well using the built in microphone on my iPhone XS about 1 cm from the case (with case back on). I had the phone and watch on a desk on a mousepad in a very quiet room. I think a help screen would be nice, but after fiddling with it, it’s pretty straightforward. 

This combined with Marc’s video on how to regulate a movement on the Long Island Watch YouTube channel were extremely helpful.

This app may be OK for a watch. I thought it would work also for a grandfather clock, but it isn’t. The app collects a certain number of ticks, and for a watch that’s a minute or two. For a tall clock, with 3600 beats per hour, this takes a  l-o-n-g  time. 

Not a good buy for clocks :(

### ***** "The only review I’ve ever written"
This worked exactly as expected. Like reallly really well. It’s obviously not a timegrapher, but if you use as directed you can set a Seiko 7s28 to within +\- 5 seconds/day or better.

I hid in a quiet closet away from my loud kids and opened the caseback, set my iPhone wired earbuds mic on the case, and got a signal no problem. The measurement is way more accurate than your ability to push the 7s28 regulating lever, so it takes a few tries. 

I bought this thinking it might be a bust. It was so super good this is the only online review for anything I’ve ever written. If it’s not working for you, you’re not following the directions. The accuracy I have on an SKX007 is (for now) within 2 seconds/day and it feels like a million bucks because of it. Great job!

I would like a refund. This app is worthless. It took about 5 tries, 20-30 min each (before giving up) to finally have it give me a reading of -329 sec/day. That’s ridiculous. The test watch is -2 sec/day. Anyone know how I can get my money back, because I can’t get that last hour of my life back.

maybe this works for some under ideal conditions- i’m glad. for me it was hours of fiddling to collect trash readings, regardless of what i tried (adjusting settings, microphone placement, case back off, etc.). results were wildly inconsistent, even when nothing changed from reading to reading. i want my time and money back

### ***** "Inexpensive solution to regulating watches"
This app is easy to work. It just requires a little trial and error on the sensitivity slider to find the right balance and get a reading. However, it might not work well on all watches. On my Seiko with a 6R15 movement, it can pick up the ticking from any angle and with the case back still on. However, on my Seiko with a 7S26, the ticking is too soft and the app can’t pick it up with the case back on. Another small thing is that the accuracy is not perfect, it was around +/- 3 seconds when I compared what the app reported vs a 24 hr observation against an official atomic clock. This might be because the measuring time from the app is pretty short. Good enough for practical application though. This app was a game changer for me and allowed me to regulate my watch for a tiny fraction of the cost of getting a timegrapher. I look forward to trying it on a Swiss ETA movement, etc.

Unlike the many other apps that time watches, this one tells you your watch accuracy within seconds not hours or days. Based on the same principles actual professional watch accuracy instruments work, this app with the help of your earbuds microphone allows you to make adjustments to your mechanical watch movement and immediately check for the change in movement’s accuracy. It is incredible how well this app works without any additional expensive sensors. Thank you so much for developing this!!!

Works well for me, and given that the selection of apps with this functionality appears to be relatively limited, I’m thankful that someone programmed it so that I avoid buying a 200USD “timegrapher” (which I don’t need for my purposes).

The alternative app implementations (of which there appears to be many), where you basically time it yourself based on a visual observation, I find somewhat ridiculous.

I placed the watch Caseback or Chrystal on top of the microphone (located a bit down the cord of my headphones) - and it works both ways.

Tried on a couple Seiko automatic watches that I manually tracked against NIST online clock and found to be -3 seconds and +4 seconds each at the 24 hour mark. This terrible app, even when used correctly, yielded wildly variable results of -19 seconds to +5 seconds and -20 seconds to +9.9 seconds. 
Basically this is a waste of money and does not work. Ripoff.

Takes some fiddling with settings (apple headphone mic, higher sensitivity, no noise canceling), but jived with daily time difference prior to opening the watch. Used it to regulate an orient movement to within a couple seconds a day with no guess and check.

Bought that app month ago and never use it. Today tried to check my old seiko accuracy - no matter what setting you use and no matter are bitrate is correct or not - the app constantly shows up accuracy of +2 to +3 secs per day which is ridiculous - the watch itself is around 20 seconds a day faster. Sensitivity doesn’t help, noice reduction too - and I used my headphones mic which is Sennheiser - not some $5 headset mic. Giving the same accuracy with different BPH (when wrongly detected) is kind of proof that app itself do basically nothing... unfortunately it’s too late to ask for money back... do not make mistake to pay for that app
