### *---- "From amazing to frustrating"
Used YNAB years ago and saved a lot because it was simple, logical, and fast. Took a break for a couple of years and came back recently, and the redesign is a mess. Everything feels overengineered and confusing. I used to open the app and instantly know what to do. Now I am stuck watching YouTube tutorials just to figure out basic actions, which is ridiculous for a budgeting tool I already understood. I thought it was just me, but it isn’t!

If this is the 2025 roadmap, rethink it. Sometimes the right move is admitting a bad design direction and correcting course instead of holding on to pride while the product declines.

### **--- "Great Concept, Horrible UI"
I love the concept behind YNAB and I’m using it for years to organise my finances successfully. The latest update however turned their somewhat clean and streamlined UI into a cluttered UX hell that broke my established workflows and adds a ton of mental load just to do the things I’ve routinely been doing for years. 
Also the change of their bank account access middleware caused a month worth of transactions to appear unapproved again. So far by far the worst update and the first one that makes me seriously reconsider using YNAB

Please stop changing designs just for the sake of change. There are zero problems with the existing UX. I don’t need a “For You” section or engagement videos. YNAB is a professional tool, not a social network. I just need your app to be stable and work as expected. That’s it.

It’s been getting worse with every release for the past couple years. The new redesign is atrocious. I’m seriously considering switching to something different as YNAB seems to have stopped caring about being simple and caters more to… I don’t even know who they cater to with stories on the main screen like “does your spending reflect you?”. Is it buzzfeed or something?

The transition to Plaid for pulling transactions has resulted in duplicating transactions leaving me with no option but to start from scratch as I couldn't trust the numbers anymore. The new "Home" page is useless for me and I wish I would be able to get rid of it so that it defaults back to the budget main view. Stop trying to fix what works and stick to what the app is supposed to do.

Not only is this the best budgeting app, it is also the best app!! The design, interface, features, usability updates, customer service and concept are all second to none! I've been using YNAB for nearly 10 years, and with each new release, it seems to get worse. It feels like the company has brought in designers or product managers who don't understand what made the product good in the first place. They've started renaming features to things like “Plan” and “Reflect,” which feel like emotional buzzwords better suited to teenagers than budgeting software.

The web app has also become noticeably slower. I used to rely on keyboard navigation to quickly go through recent transactions, but now there's a lag of a few seconds after pressing Enter. Clicking to select a row also takes a few seconds to respond. Setting goals has become more difficult due to recent UI changes.

I just hope they don’t ruin the service completely—or that a worthy alternative comes along soon.

I first discovered YNAB when I was finishing my doctorate, and it is one of the few apps/subscriptions that has had a transformative effect on my life. My husband and I started to learn how to use it at the same time, and it gave us a shared language and toolkit to navigate difficult financial moments, and to plan for important and exciting life events. It’s seen us through scary times, made once-in-lifetime trips possible, and helped us buy our house. I always say that YNAB makes dreams come true, and keeps nightmares at bay! I am profoundly grateful for YNAB.

### **--- "Insane subscription prices."
The app was great, but then got a little too complicated as they added more and more unnecessary features. 

But what really killed it for me was the subscription increases. They just kept jumping. I left the app when it reached €90+ and now it’s over €100.

Honestly it’s just not worth that, it’s not worth 50% its current price to be honest. Definitely can’t recommend this app.

### ***** "Quite simply, the best app/system I’ve ever bought"
YNAB has completely changed my relationship with money. I’ve been using it for five years now and it have given me financial freedom. I have gone from living month to month, carrying debt and always counting the days to the next pay day, to someone who is 100% debt free (excl mortgage), with 5 figure savings and 5 figure investments. I’m a single parent and I earn a normal salary. I live the same lifestyle as before - minus wasteful spending - and now I’m just in control of my money and don’t have to worry about it. I really wish more people used a system like this - it would sort a lot of problems. I will use YNAB forever.

### *---- "Bank import doesn’t work, no refund. Don’t purchase until you’re sure."
When it worked YNAB was nice. Bank import worked well for about 2 months and then broke. App is now useless, support similarly useless after months of engaging with them, even if they were nice and polite. No refund, so the money saving app has *cost* me money, ironically. 

Please do not buy this expensive app unless you’re 100% sure your bank import will work well. If you have a family or quite a few transactions you’ll likely not be able to use the other manual input methods. 

It’s not possible to give zero stars or that’s what I’d give.

YNAB is amazing. Really gives you control over your money no matter what your income level is. By using YNAB for the past 18 months I have been able to fund significant family expenses like college and private school and pay outright for holidays as well as pay off my credit card with out any additional debt. Also I have the biggest balance in my current account that I have ever had and now I am finally a month ahead giving me much more financial security. I highly recommend it to anyone.

### ***** "Life Changing"
Part 2 2022- My first review is below from about a year ago.  
The app has been updated several times and it just keeps improving.  This app is still life-changing.  I’m  understanding where my money goes at a glance and and it means all my financial decisions are intentional and Im no longer at the end of the month wondering what happened my money.  I have full possession and ownership of it.  

Part 1 2021- I have money in in my bank for the first time in my life. It took a few hours Over a couple of weeks to get all my expenses added to the template because I had no idea what my expenses were. As I was building my template I learned how this system works and my financial life is changed beyond recognition. Life altering!!
