I remember absolutely loving the gameplay. Since I started off easy with Miyabi being my first S rank, I quite enjoyed this. Though I did find the front page quite confusing compared to my first HoYo game, Genshin impact. I’m not trying to compare ZZZ to Genshin too much, but considering that they are both HoYo games, I feel as if they could do a lot better. In my opinion, compared to other games, ZZZ isn’t as hardcore. My style of playing should be more fulfilling and satisfying, for example, farming and working hard for the things I’m aiming for, as ZZZ gives us WAY more and getting characters doesn’t seem as exciting as it would be. There are also some things that I would like to be added to the game, and maybe make it more enjoyable. First off, Co-op mode. I completely understand that ZZZ’s style of gameplay requires all team members to work together, but I do think that playing and competing with other players would make the game a lot better. Second of all, more male characters. I mean, do I need to explain myself? The ratio between male and female characters is like a 30-70%. It’s kinda sad seeing all the female characters, and yet, in 2.3, yet another set of female characters. Im sorry for asking so much for this game, but I do think it needs a whole bunch of improvement. Especially compared to HSR, WuWa and even Genshin Impact. Positives? The first season was great - up to the Bringer boss. The writing was fine tuned and the characters were very likeable and fun. The Bangboo are also by far the most adorable mascots ever conceived and their events are always well done and hit the feels right. The male characters are all very well developed in character and design even if they’re not all S-rank. A few female characters are also very fun and solid like Nicole, Zhu Yuan, Qingyi, Astra Yao, and Miyabi. Sadly, there are a LOT of things to criticise. First off, the second season is so far very weak - it is a wuxia plot and thus can be very boring with too much yapping for people who just want action as well as an exposition dump of miasma. Yixuan is also probably meant to be like Miyabi but she lacks any quirks like Miyabi did, and thus comes as very boring and overpowered. The protagonists become “chosen ones with special abilities” which is also a very boring and tired plot trope rather than the more intriguing and less done “hacker behind the scenes”. The female designs have also gone downhill with Seed being a very blatant fetish character, and the upcoming Lucia and Yidhari being uninteresting in design. While people mock WuWa for having female characters in your face compared to the first time where there was a more even gender ratio, at least the female characters there were relevant to the overall story and actually integrated well. Who are even Lucia and Yidhari? Just random chicks who’ll no doubt be sloppily inserted as “oh yeah! Remember this random?” Or somehow shoehorned in. The gameplay is boring with lack of TV mode - I know people complained about this before but I wasn’t one of them so I’m going to criticise that for sure. Getting materials is also a chore even with the Housekeeping tickets, and far too much dennies are needed to pay for level up and all that jazz whereas that didn’t seem like a problem in HSR. Overall, this game could’ve been way better. I only log on to get the free Bangboo and characters I really want.
