Way Too Many Historical Errors

1. The game, 1942 Classic Arcade, describes the most well-known and fearsome Japanese fighter aircraft in World War II， i.e. the Mitsubishi A6M Zero, to be so weak and slow that the American fighter aircraft, the F4F Wildcat is faster than it. However, in true history, Zero fighters were much faster than Wildcats and that’s why the Americans upgraded the F4F Wildcat to F6F Hellcat. These Hellcats could take much more damage than Zero fighters but were as fast as the Zeros. 2. In the Battle of Iwo Jima, the Japanese forces had no air support at all. Despite being outnumbered, the Japanese forces fought fiercely against the American invaders and made them lose more soldiers than the Japanese defenders did. However, the game describes that the Americans fought against many Japanese aircrafts, which is a huge historical error! If you watch the movie “Letters from Iwo Jima”, you will definitely find this game more humiliating to the Great Japanese nation and her people. 3. The bombings of Tokyo during 1944 to 1945 were basically inhuman massacres of civilians and meaningless revenge of the Battle of Pearl Harbor. The Japanese only had a few fighter aircrafts, anti-aircraft guns and firefighters, while the Americans used heavy bombers to bomb this beautiful city with high population density. Nevertheless, the Americans were so “heroic” in this game that they used a single fighter aircraft to destroy the entire Japanese air fleet who had a fictional powerful aircraft in Tokyo - the is totally opposite from the true history. 4. The mighty Japanese battleship Yamato is not only the most powerful battleship in World War II but also a symbol of the Japanese spirit (also known as Yamato Damashii). She was sunk after being attacked by 8 aircraft carriers with 386 aircraft (mostly bombers) and hit by 12 bombs and 12 torpedoes. However, this game describes her being destroyed and sunk by a single American fighter aircraft, which is not only humiliating to the battleship Yamato herself but her brave crew, who fought stubbornly until she was sunk. This game’s mockery of the great Japanese national character and over-idolization of the US without understanding true history makes me sick. To conclude my review, I must admit that it is possible that many people may not agree with my statements, yet the truth is that this game not only humiliates Japan and her great history but also justifies the American atrocities against Japanese people during World War II.
