It’s time for Sinclair to invest as much in the triad as it does in Asheville.
This is a great app with very few notifications and a great place to catch up on the 6 or 11 PM newscasts. Jonathan Weant does a great job of breaking down the weather, much better than monotone Charles at Fox 8. I have always enjoyed the news product of co-owned WLOS in Asheville which is a great balance of local and national content. But here in the triad, WFMY has sucked ever since Tegna imposed the new graphics package and the C Clarity music library. WXII has gone full-blown liberal leftist with Hearst’s DEI agenda. Fox 8 is decent and unbiased but could be improved. I realize this is Biden’s economy, and money is tight, especially when you factor in the bankrupt disaster known as Diamond Sports Group. But Sinclair has a valuable opportunity to bring the same thriving, revenue-generating news model in place at WLOS into the triad on WXLV. The National Desk is a balanced Fox News alternative and covers issues the mainstream media won’t touch. Why not balance that out with a local morning newscast, News at 10 on My 48 etc. This could easily take a bite out of the major players in this market.
