Since a couple of weeks I own a Asustor AS5404T. Wonderfull nas. The app AIData fits seamlesly and you can do all the works as user and as admin. Of course I had to learn again to move and work in a not Apple machine. All things you get used to.
This is my first asustor device and I was expecting an a-brand user experience, but the software and apps are not at the same level as the hardware. AiData -as one example- is terribly slow compared to the competition and the design is very dated (to put it mildly). Text is badly aligned and screen space is not used efficiently. It also still shows black bars on an 11” iPad Pro, which has been around for three years. You can play most video files, but navigation isn’t great and it will tell you that “open in” is not supported for “online meida” files (their typo, not mine). My videos are not online files, but there is no way to play them using a better, player from within AiData. I had high hopes for ADM 4.0 and accompanying apps, but they still leave a lot of room for improvement.
It does what it needs to, what i would appreciate is sound with video”s. Even with the browser there is no sound.
And all AiWhatever apps in general. Music wise you could have a look and enjoy AiMusic, the rest of the current Asustor apps are a disgrace, totally disappointing and not matching the great quality Asustor NAS hardware by far. This is a strange combination, but a fact. Try FileBrowser instead, it is not free but I use it for years now, without any disappointment.
Normally i could select the video and share with e-mail.. that option is gone! Now i can select share but the movie starts to download..
After the last update the app crashes on me at the moment I try to connect to my NAS. Or try to configure a new connection.l So in short unusable for me.
I just bought an Asustor Nas and I am dissapointed with the capabilities of the software. I want to back-up all my photo's and video on my iPhone to my Nas. With this app I have to select them 1 by 1. Which means more than 1k clicks. The photo app manager to upload them altogether, but forgot the selfies and video folder :-(. All the software Seems unfinished.
