Fine magazine, atrocious app

With "subscribed" clearly written across the store page, tapping on the download button invites you to pay (again) for it. Woe betide you if you use a thumbprint to open your iPad and your thumb is in contact with the home button. You will spend the next 30 minutes discovering how to get a refund. There is a fix. You must ALWAYS "restore purchases" using the inconveniently hidden text masquerading as a button before downloading anything. I thought computing devices could be programmed to do things like that: apparently not!

Best magazine

I have been reading this magazine for years and I love it. I’m loving my digital and paper magazine subscription.

Beware lost purchases

This app updated in March 2017 and refused to download some of the magazines I had previously purchased no matter how many times I tried their instructions. Email to developer only responded to by auto response. Called to UK to talk to them and the developer offered zero help. Buyer beware.

Mostly happy

I love history and love reading these magazines. With that being said, I hate the extra "special issues". I would prefer to pay a bit extra for the yearly subscription. As in other reviews, I do feel nickel and dimed and feel cheated. I am on a fixed income and it is not much so I cannot afford to purchase the extra, that's where the "cheated" come from. Bottom line, I enjoy the magazines.

Disappointed

The magazine is okay. I like the visuals and I think they do a nice job with the short history provided on their topics. I like more in depth analysis, but this is my personal preference. However, I really dislike how they have all these "special issues" that cost extra money. I would rather pay one price and get all issues than to feel like I am being "nickeled and dimed" on a magazine for which I have an annual subscription. For these reasons I decided not to renew my subscription and am looking into other history magazines.
