It took 15 mins to set up a travel notice via customer service that I used to be able to do in the app in less than 5 minutes. I don’t understand why the Ally app is so behind compared to other banking apps. Why are we still calling customer service just to set up card controls?! IT MAKES NO SENSE. BRING THOSE FEATURES BACK!!!
Decent but frustrating
Ally Bank offers a user-friendly interface, but its overly rigid security measures create significant frustration. Every time I attempt to send money via Zelle, my account is locked, requiring a time-consuming call to customer service for verification. Activating my debit card was equally challenging, as the automated system failed, and even agents struggled to resolve the issue, leaving me unable to use the card until Monday. Thank God this is not my main bank, or I would’ve been done for. Ally needs to balance security with usability, as these constant disruptions overshadow their otherwise polished platform.
Good overall
The experience is good overall. Overview is easy, basic account actions easily accessible. The only thing that is annoying is how often an update is required and then after this update usually you need to re enter your security credentials. Otherwise it’s a good app.
Pretty good
It works well, the buckets are really good for saving for different things. The only thing they need to change is to give you the option to portion out the money going into the buckets by exact amount instead of just percentages.

As an online only bank, the mobile option is really important. The app works well, and I can manage all of my accounts with ally easily from the app. Been with them for 5 years and have been happy the whole time!
No access
I set up a new account and was excited as it seemed user friendly. Wrong. I can’t access the mobile app and because of those issues, I now can’t access the website. The “required safety feature” of sending a code by text or call doesn’t work. 3 hours later no access and Surprise no code text nor call received. So disappointing.
Easy money
Super easy and convenient. Transferring money is smooth and friendly. Love seeing the hypothetical growth so I know what to keep in and take out

Slow
App has gotten much slower than it was before they redid it. Not snappy and responsive. Wastes my time as a user when I just need to do something quickly and be done with it.
